OK Guys, it’s time to have a chat about the 2023 NHL Draft, and the division that it has created amongst fans of the Montreal Canadiens. I think no matter what happens on Wednesday night, there will be Habs fans that will NOT be happy with the outcome. How long will it last? Time will tell!

I mean the Habs can still have PLD if they just give the Jets that 5OA, then they don't have to worry who they pick.
I’d be happiest with Montreal taking the steal of the entire draft, no matter what number they land on. I hope it’s a grand slam. I trust HuGo at the helm. Hughes and Gorton are steering the ship in the right direction. I don’t see that suddenly dramatically changing.

The news that the only reason kk was taken instead of Quinn Hughes was victor mete makes me fine with someone smaller like benson or michkov. Just take the best player available, whether that’s michkov, smith, Leonard, or even a trade. As long as they don’t take reinbacker at 5 when they could trade down and still get him plus maybe 26 from st louis
What would be a suitable return from the caps to trade 5 for 8? I really love Benson and not many have him going before 8 so if we could get him I'd be happy but what else would we be getting?

MTL 5th for washingtons 8th and 40th .
8th – Dvorsky / Benson / Moore/ reinbacher
31st- Nadeau / Gauthier, cristal
37th – hrabal / or best avail goalie
40th – best avail defense – ie) molyndyke??
I feel Oliver Moore has a higher ceiling than Smith and any of the forwards ie) leonard, Benson Moore will be just as good as Smith.
If MTL does take michkov or Smith I will be ok with that.

Trading down is stupid unless you’re going to 6 or 7 and guaranteed Michkov somehow….I think stay at 5 and draft BPA (forward) or if you can trade down 1 or 2 spots for cheap which won’t happen
IMO, if Montreal does not draft Michkov nor Will Smith at 5th, they may surprise us all by taking Dvorsky, a natural center, instead of Reinbacher or Leonard. Indeed, Dvorsky is bigger than Leonard and likely just as talented. MSL could then use him at two different positions to wit: as a center or as a winger. However, I really hope for Michkov ..we will see!!!
It's plain and simple. Take Michkov or Smith at 5th, whichever one is available.
I may have my order of preference, but I won't be upset with any of Smith, Michkov, Leonard, Benson. That's assuming they stay at 5 obviously, and nothing crazy happens to see one of the top 3 drop.

What will be will be people get over it whatever ever transpires.
My top 3 picks would be Leonard, (I LOVE his physical game, and he can shoot the puck!), Michkov (his skill level is off the charts, but waiting sucks), and last would be Smith (Great 2 way player, and he has a good shot too). We need a goal scorer, my worst case Ontario would be them use their #5 pick to select a defense man! If that DOES happen, i will send u pics of my TV with the new fist marks all thru it!!! lol. Sad part is, im not joking, i will lose my shit! lol.
If they do take Michkov you will have 3 years of great content lol

No matter who the HABS management select as their top pick I will support 100% even if I disagree.
At the end of the day, we are all armchair critics with the limited inside knowledge that Mr. Gorton & Mr. Hughes have, and I personally trust their plan.
Pick the best offensive talent , that’s what this year draft is all about ! Gorton/hugues already got the team in a better state, hopefully they think about getting a elite/superstar points producer 🙏🏻 Go habs Go
Habs are fine whatever they do. Either getting a potential top 6 forward or potential top 2 dman. Got to think for the long term!
If I was picking at 5th, I would take Smith or Michkov but what do I know. I trust Kent will do what's best. I will be excited however this plays out.
Take Michkov if he is available…. it's called a rebuild for a reason

I don’t want Michkov but if we can’t move up in the draft and he’s the only one left out of the top 5 ranked players. We have to take him cause he will be the best player available. Picking a D , we have to many left handed prospects at D now , so no. Moving down depends on the return, top prospect and pick for just picking up the phone

Blue Jackets – 5th OA , 2nd rd (Col 2024 ), Harris, Struble , one of the two 1st rd picks of 2025
Man I just think that would be insane to pass on the top end forward talent just for the sake of positional needs. And with PLD seeming going to LA the Habs really do need another high end Center.
