Staal signs four-year extension in Carolina

Jordan Staal spoke to the media on Sunday about his four-year, $11.6M extension with the Hurricanes, the success he believes the team can have for this contract and his love for Carolina being one of the main reasons he wanted to stay.

  1. Huge day for him, he can now pass his brother in games played by a hurricane if he gets another 168 games. (3 seasons)

  2. Maybe I'm tripping but can't teams use this for cap circumventing like we will pay you 5 million a season but you only play two years and we buy out the other two so you get your money? Im not saying that's what's happening here but can't you hypothetically go over the cap and pay for it down the road doing this with a couple of guys? Im probably overlooking something, I feel dumb asking this question lol.
