  1. At this point I dont think it's the lack of physicality that holds back the team. It seems like the core 4 just get figured out in the playoffs pretty easily and they never change how they play.

  2. John did you just completely forget that alot of these guys also need large extensions that will increase their cap hits going forward? ROR under 6 million is a pipe dream. Schenn under 2.5-3 mill is as well. And theres just no way to fit all these additions in if you intend to keep AM34 and nylander. Matthews will likely command 14 million or a bit over 14 mill on a 3-4 year term and nylander definitely will not be signing for less than tha barzal contract which starts with a 9. Calgary on the other hand wants to be a playoff team and likely want nhl players that can help them compete in a trade for noah hanafin. Some of these trades are potentially possible like the marner deal and the wilson deal but the cap hits and what ur expecting guys to sign for is absolutely absurd

  3. I actually dont mind the Carolina trade as crazy as that sounds. Brett pesce is a decent top 4 defenceman with some size and shut down ability. The first with Lilly and Hirvonen is a little bit much, but i think a deal could be worked out there..

  4. What about ducks…They have 3 RFA…Terry, comtois and zegras.
I wouldn’t mind tossing marner in a package for those 3. Thinking outside the box.

  5. They have some potential with Robertson. Would be nice for Hartman or Laughton

  6. Need to shake things up certainly

The next 10 days or so could be absolutely nuts, we have no idea what is really happening behind closed doors, I don’t think Treliving will go through another Johnny Gadreau situation where our top guys have the option to walk for free next year….and also I don’t think he will necessarily accommodate/cave in to Matthews salary demands if they are way above McDavid’s salary as has been reported.
A lot more may go down than people suspect

  7. I need a shower after seeing Perry named in a Leafs line up. But love the idea of Tom Wilson, but opening up space for Matty & Marner. Willy will be flipped.

  8. PFFT, Ek would leave Minnesota over Bill Guerin, Dean Evason and every single fan's dead bodies….that guy on his contract is one of the best two way centers (if not the best) since Rod the Bod left, and if his line stays together and looks like it did at the end of last season when him, Mojo and Boldy were ROLLING……that would be the best damn line in all of hockey, especially considering our issues with depth at center…..I'd love to send Hartzy to the leafs for a couple good prospects (cause he's far too cheap as a center to get anything back) or maybe a 2nd and a 4th or something, it'll benefit Toronto with major physciality, swagger and chippy attitudes, and take some PIM off our charts and give Rossi a permanent spot too (ahem, DEAN EVASON), Hartman is a good player I'd be sad to see go but it'd help both clubs in different ways and it's a win win!

  9. Tom Wilson has declined and may not be a 3rd liner anymore, Marner is worth way more than that, and trading 1st round picks really??? The only pick I would do is Hanafin even though I love Connor Timmins. Marner made Matthews a 60 goal scorer and rejuvenated tavares.
