Let’s explore the options of Team USA for the Canucks. I know we were Team Sweden but now we are Team USA. Do we draft a USA player in the 1st round?

  1. philly has said they want leonard. moore hasfallen down the prospect list. i think his iq comes into question.

  2. i look at it differently.i place the players in the spots needed.
    wood with petey and kuz; barlow with miller and kikheyev; danielson 3rd line center;
    willander with hughes, simashev with hronek. benson and michkov i'm sure will be gone.
    what do we need the most? wood, willander or simashev?

  3. So, the argument is the only way to get a great defenseman is to draft them. Once a team has one they almost never give him up during their prime. Also, it's been proven time and time again it's the stud defence that win playoff rounds and championships. Look no further than Vegas and FLA this year. The Canucks need to add to a their defence corps. After Hughes, Hronek and maybe Bear who do they have? Prospects on the farm and nothing else. Please Vancouver, draft a dman

  4. Best player available. Always. I know the Canucks need a d-man, but they can't leave a stud player on the table while chasing after a d-man. That was part of the problem when the Canucks went off the board to draft Juolevi, leaving Tkachuk available. If the best available player is a d-man, so much the better…draft him. Judd Brackett, the Canucks' former head scout, loved drafting American players…he scouted Hughes, and Demko. Thomas Gradin loves the Swedish players, being Swedish himself. It'll be interesting to see Todd Harvey's thinking…2023 will be his fourth draft as head scout. Canucks didn't even have a 1st round pick in 2020, or 2021. 2022 they took a Swede, Lekkerimaki, so Harvey might go European again in 2023. Thanks for posting, Trev.

  5. If you're trading UP to get Leonard why not just get Michkov? It's widely known that Washington and Vancouver are two teams that he'd like to play for and if he was available to come over to the NHL now, you'd likely see him drafted #2 or #3 overall.

  6. Anyone they pick likely won’t be ready for 3 years. Tocchet will be gone by then. Heck, Petterson is probably 50/50 being gone by then. Just pick the best talent available

  7. A lot of people say that if Moore had the same level of linemates as Smith, he would have gotten the same or more points as him.
