Mika Zibanejad goaltender interfence on Connor Ingram – Have your say
Mika Zibanejad took a minor penalty for goaltender interference after this run in with Connor Ingram. Tough Call will be reviewing this incident. Was it avoidable? Have your say!
I don't know what else Mika was supposed to do. I'm surprised you're gonna suspend him honestly! He would have to completely give up the puck to change his angle and avoid Ingram, who is sliding well out of the crease for no other reason than his own… I don't get what Ingram was trying to do, besides causing contact. In slow motion maybe it looks worse, but in real time Mika is skating so fast on a potential break, I don't know what else he's supposed to do.
Can't see how this is goaltender interference. Ingram is way out of his crease, Zib even tucks in his elbow to avoid contact while himself being well outside of the crease. Ingram just flailed and drew a penalty that wasn't really a penalty.
Keep in mind, unlike the Department of Player Safety, just because I’m reviewing something doesn’t necessarily mean I think it’s a suspension or even a penalty. It just means it’s an incident of interest that I feel we can learn something from.
Also as an aside, what do you think of this video compared to others in terms of effects and such? I’m trying some things out.
I'd give 2 for elbowing and 2 to the goalie for diving. Zibanejad didn't try to avoid contact at all, he knew exactly what he was doing. Goalie needs to work on his acting skills. I think he'd have drawn the penalty without the flop.
What's he supposed to do there? Ingram comes flying out of his crease and Mika is just supposed to telepathically know what he's doing and avoid him. Bad referee, bad. Just because there is contact with the goalie does not make it goaltender interference.

If that’s a suspension, then every goalie should just slide out of the net in the direction of players to initiate contact. Nothing Mika can do.
