Well there’s any number of Stanley cup contenders he could go to if he didn’t have an $11mil+ salary… just saying

  2. HockeyShark91

His contract imploded the Sharks. He sat back playing lazy until he wanted out- now he wants out? Good riddance

  3. WhenTheFunStops89

I feel Dallas would be insane if they’re not trying to get Karlsson.

  4. TurbanGhetto

Can’t wait to see where he ends up after he agrees to cancel his contract, so he can play for a winner.

I want to win from an old guy with a massive contract. That’s not how it is done with a cap.

  6. Rowdy_Roddy96

I said this before…. he is somehow going to end up in either Tampa Bay or Florida

You dont want this clown. For every 1 “brilliant” “all-world” play this guy makes 1.5 end up in his own net. I have no idea how people regard him so highly unless you JUST take his good plays (which are amazing, but) and I watched every game he played for SJ…how do people not know how many stupid plays this dude makes (makes the stupidest face I’ve seen in hockey half the time while doing so- like a disbelief face that another puck landed behind a sprawling out of position Karlsson)

He scores some goals and everyone forgets hes literally shitting while creaming himself on the other end of the ice…take him, take him please

You should have thought about that when you signed that contract.

Nhl players: “I want to win!”
Also NHL players: “but also fuck you pay me $11mill a year”

For the life of me I have no idea why if players want to win they don’t settle for a little bit less. Even if EK made 8 or 9 a year that’s a lot of money to put towards another player(s) that could help the club.

If you want to win you likely shouldn’t have signed a backbreaking contract on a team that was on its last legs of a 12-15 year competition window.

He should try playing defense sometime if he wants to win..

It is very rare that any team wins the stanley cup with an overpaid defenseman on their roster. Usually you spend huge money on elite forwards that will help you score and have a solid group of defensemen with reasonable contracts. Erik Karlsson had to know when he became the most expensive defensemen in the league that there wouldn’t be enough money to build a contender around him. At most, a contender has 1 higher paid defenseman but usually they make under 10 million. When you win a Stanley cup every penny in your roster construction matters. Not to mention signing long term with the only CA team that hasn’t ever won it all… I don’t think you get to wake up randomly one day and demand a trade because you want to win it all lol

He can come teach the Wings d core how to be elite if he is willing to take a pay cut and short term

There isn’t a single contender that can take his contract. Well, at least until kucherov or stone go on annual LTIR until day one of the playoffs.

Erik Karlsson on playing defence: “I want to not win”

There’s a split in the timeline when we resign Pavs versus signing Karlsson and we chose the wrong one sadly
