Why did Tyler Toffoli change his mind about Calgary?

Rumours have run rampant in Calgary about prominent players and their desire to be on the move this offseason. Salim Valji joins Jay Onrait to share how he sees the next few days shaping up for the Flames, whether new GM Craig Conroy must examine the culture of the organization, and the team’s sell to get free agents to come to Calgary.

  1. When people ask why players want to leave Canada this is why. You guys can’t get enough articles and videos about players wanting out.

  2. Bettman ruined Canadian Nhl teams. Relocating to Markets in the States like the failed Arizona team. Vegas wins in 6 years.

  3. A compete mess. And to think the person who had 9 years and is responsible for all this, got hired immediately by the most valued franchise in the league. What a joke.

  4. Toffoli understood that it wasn't Sutter's system that was the problem, it was the players not wanting to put in the effort. Last season Toffoli was one of the only players consistently putting up good performances and his statistics and results proved that. Huberdeau and Kadri just didn't want to adjust to the new system and played mediocre hockey every night. I'm glad Toffoli is leaving cause he deserves to have a better team around him.

  5. This could be everything the flames need to force their hand on a full rebuild. They’ve refused to do it and have been stuck as the most mediocre franchise in hockey because of it. Now every Albertan taxpayer has to partly pay for it and there isn’t a city more deserving in their misery ¯_(ツ)_/¯

  6. The narrative from Eric Francais and Flames media was to blame Sutter for all of last seasons issues but let’s face it the players don’t believe that’s the current regime. Wonder if they were better off hiring an external coach and GM. Start the rebuild already!

  7. This city sucks and really has very little to do unless you want to travel to Canmore and Banff all the time. Besides that there is how dry it is, how arrogant the people are. Canada is basically a slave nation with its tax system, all under the misconception of being the "land of the free". I'm a 36 year resident used to be more "liberal" and any national pride I had has been destroyed by the Trudeau government. Get me the hell out of here too!

  8. It’s the McDavid effect and no one seems to want to acknowledge it. He’s so good he’s altering franchises outside of his own.

  9. Because he dosent want to play with a bunch if babies. Ownership needs to keep the players thar want to win not score.

  10. Sad to say, but it certainly seems that ALL of the Canadian franchises are a managerial mess. ✔️
