its not motive's fault that this whole war is happening. same thing with the world juniors a while ago. it obviously wasn't any of the Russian players fault but I don't get why they had to disqualify Russia from it. at the same time there could be problems with higher authorities but I still don't get what this would solve by not including Russia from any worldwide sports.

I think any team not drafting Bedard should take him. Draft the best player available. If you really don't need a superstar winger 4 years from now, trade him for other assets worthy of a superstar winger. None of the other prospects will be that special for more than 1-2 seasons over this 4 year waiting period anyway.

the risk surrounding Michkov is overblown.. he seems like a grounded guy who wants to play in the NHL.
I would pass on him. Seems like a player that would be toxic in the dressing room
Michkov is comparable to Artemi Panarin or Karill Kaprizov. Maybe even slightly better. He deserves to be drafted in the top 5

What's the difference being in Russia for 2 years or other guys going to college for 2 or 4 years or be a pro in AHL to develope to make an impact in NHL.

Michkov lost his father at 18 years old and you guys want to talk about character. The Russian factor…. Where was the American factor when the USA invaded country after country on false pretense. Stop using politics in sports.

In my opinion the only material concern that Bob raises is that scouts don't really know how good Michkov is (because they can't go to Russia, he didn't play in the World Juniors etc…). However, if he is really comparable to Bedard (who is clearly a cut above Fantelli, Smith and Carlsson) then there is no way he wouldn't go second overall despite all of the concerns on about his contract and Russia etc… The issue is that whether or not he is actually on Bedard's level is uncertain.
