It seems weird giving it to a guy like jordan staal. If you value strictly defensive play, guys like ZAR, Cates, Tanev should be consistent top nominations. If you value two-way elite players then pettersson, matthews, crosby should be at the top.

Bergeron winning feels kinda dumb with how stacked Boston is. It’s insanely hard to say he was the best defensive forward with how good his defensive wingers and superstar defensive defensemen are and alltime goaltending performance

More 2nd place votes than the winner, Petey was robbed

Hopefully this helps him get his foot in the door for future voting.

Not only for this trophy, but maybe a hart nomination at some point in the future.

Damn right. Been amazing to watch this guy develop. Obviously had a tough start to last year but the recovery has been impressive. X factor.

He definitely doesn’t get enough credit around the league, but that will change. I bet he’ll get the same amount of Selkes as Bergeron in the end, though.

  6. Selke is by far the biggest reputation based award. After Bergeron retires, there will be a new Selke king to reign for the next 5-10 yrs

Well Kesler didn’t win the Selke until his 8th season. That was a yummy year for Canucks fans.

I’d say there’s a nonzero chance Pettersson might be in the hunt for his first or maybe second Selke by his 8th season. But he should probably focus his alien brain on mastering face-offs.

Who gave JT Miller a vote? 💀

It’s tough to see that 4 of the top 5 all play on the east coast. We need more writers to stay up to watch Petey play.

Don’t need another mill on that AAV.

Give him another couple years. We haven’t even seen peak Elias. It’s gonna be something to behold.

Is this based on writers voting? why not get the NHL players to cast the vote on who they experience is the top defensive forward
