TJ Brodie’s future with the Maple Leafs is…

In today’s video, I discuss whether or not the Toronto Maple Leafs are actually looking at buying out TJ Brodie. DailyFaceoff’s Frank Seravalli said Brodie would be a “sneaky” buyout candidate, but suggested that new GM Brad Treliving might not do that because of their long relationship. The Toronto Sun’s Terry Koshan reported on Tuesday that any report of Brodie being bought had “no truth” to it.

  1. From what we hear, paying Babcock not to coach the Leafs was not exactly a big hit with the Bell/Rogers board, so for that reason I don't think buyouts are in the cards for any Leaf. Matt Murray may be the prime candidate, but there are other alternatives. One, you can play Murray. When he's healthy, he's close to his contract value. And, when he's hurt (which unfortunately seems inevitable) he's a cap asset on the LTIR. Chicago took Mrazek last year, so even if I can't see a trade for Murray it doesn't mean there isn't one out there. As for Brodie being bought out, it's a silly notion at best.

  2. TJ was awful in the last 2 weeks of the season, and all the way through the playoffs. He had made 2 or 3 good games in that span. You could do a lot with 5 million toward bettering the roster. To me it makes a lot of sense.

  3. Buy out dumb if they don't want him they could just trade him lol stupid click bait some people did
