[Weekes] I’m told the @GoldenKnights are trading F Reilly Smith to @penguins for a 3rd Rd Draft Pick.

Very sad to see another original misfit go. Hopefully this means we are gonna re-sign Barbashev. There has to be something else here.

Stone passing the cup to him first makes you wonder if this was planned a good while in advance.

    # DON’T YOU PUT THAT EVIL ON ME RICKY BOBBY!!!

This seems like a bad deal. Emotionally, I don’t like it. Hockey-wise, also don’t like it. I assume we’re scrambling for DeBrincat?

  4. RoombaArmy

I hate this so fucking much I cannot put it into words.

I’m literally crying. What the actual fuck.

  5. friskyjude

Well, it was nice to not hate management for the last three weeks. Back to it I suppose.

  6. AttackOf-Opportunity

If they did this to sign Barbashev to something idiotic like 5×6.5M its gonna suck.

  7. particleman3

Well the McGMs are back at it.

Does this mean we keep Barbie?

  8. Dinomandino

I’m literally about to get his jersey for his cup winning goal.

Emotionally I hate it…. But management won us a cup when everyone said we made bad moves. I’ll wait to see what they do with the cap room if it’s true

If this is to get Barb to stay? I dunno, they’ve been known to make some pretty aggressive moves. I wonder if they’re going all out for a double/trip cup run before we’re out of the window.

Do you really expect that be able to keep every player forever and be able to pay for them? Not ideal but it’s the price of success.

Yeah it’s sucks to see a misfit go especially this soon after the cup but these are the kind of moves that have kept this team in contention for its entire existence and now especially they have a short window they need to maximize

    Woof this is painful.

But for a moment of clarity for everyone, the only reason we’ve been able to stay competitive every year and win the cup so quickly is because the McGMs are willing to move the guys necessary to win.

Everyone hates the Fleury and Patches moves until you realize it freed up the space to get Eichel and without Eichel we don’t win the cup.

Either be a winner or keep your favorite guys. Can’t do both

Well people on this sub have been wishing him traded since year one. You got your wish.

Honestly I’m okay with this move. I’m glad Smith got his cup first, but he hasn’t been that pivotal to the knights the last couple seasons. If it was Karlsson or marchessault I’d be pissed, but Smith is an acceptable move.

Oh my god…this one hurts. So glad he won the Cup with some of the Misfits before going, but damn.

  17. I stood by the McGMs when they dumped Flower, I could understand that move.

I didn’t understand the Pacioretty dump until seeing that he only played 5 games last season, it really was for the best.

Smith has been on a slow decline the past few seasons, and despite stellar defensive play, his offense was barely there in the playoffs (full credit for the cup winning goal though!). If this is the move that has to be made to keep both Hill and Barbashev, I understand. But that doesn’t make watching Smith leave any less hard.
