[Lazarus] There has been a ton of chatter about Jonathan Quick and NYR. Would be a good mentor for Igor Shesterkin. Imagine spending your NHL career in LA, Vegas, and then New York, not too shabby.

I mean… At this point, aren’t Halak and Quick a wash? Quick obviously has the hardware, but I remember the home game against the Kings before he was traded this season. It was bad. That said, he’s local, so maybe it’ll work.

I haven’t forgiven Quick for 2014. Also, does Igor really need a mentor at this point?

Why would Igor need a mentor? He’s 27, has already won a Vezina and is clearly a top 5 goalie in the league. Its not like he’s a struggling 22 year old. Plus he’s got the best goalie coach in the history of the world.

Backup goalie seems like a place where they need to pinch pennies. Risky, but the cap is squeezing hard.

  5. Quick could be being considered because he may be willing to take a steep discount to end his career with his “hometown” team.

A kane-like acquisition. Wouldn’t be good for the team

Just think of the epic Mike Richter tribute set we’d see Quick rocking. I’d be ok with this at a vet minimum because Quick seems like a great locker room guy and he grew up a Rangers fan, but if I’m choosing between Quick and Halak salary being equal this point I’m taking Halak because he just seems to have more gas in the tank. There were times last year where Quick seemed like he was done, although he wasn’t in a pure backup role with LA.

Not a bad idea. He’s from CT. Everyone groaning over mentoring Igor, why wouldn’t you want a 2- cup winning future HoFer in your corner?

No way overated at this point in his career. He was horrid this season in a heavy backup- role

I feel like the cheapest way to go is to have one of the Wolfpack goalies back up Igor this year. Quick for anything more than league minimum is a mistake, in my opinion. Igor doesn’t need a mentor. He can BE a mentor at this point.

Next you’ll be telling me to get Martinez. Pass.

Exponentially better than Halak. How is this even a question if the price is right?

Sounds like an expensive backup. We should be allocating our budget elsewhere. Unless Quick is willing to sign for under $2/million AAV I want nothing to do with him tbh. Igor really doesn’t need a “mentor”

  14. Oh my God why is every off season rumor so terrible this year?
