The off-season Avalanche train continues to roll early on as the 2nd round pick the Colorado Avalanche picked up from the Montreal Canadiens in the Alex Newhook deal, was flipped to the Tampa Bay Lightning Wednesday morning for forward Ross Colton.
Then it was draft time, and the Avs held on to both of their 1st round picks and selected center Calum Ritchie at pick 27, then Mikhail Gulyayev at 31.

I believe Malgin will be replaced by Puljiharvi ,, who himself won’t be qualified by Carolina ,, the free agents I keep thinking they will go after no more ROR cause the they don’t need that 2C anymore, but Barbyshev and Soucy seem more and more likely,,,PS Button said of Ritchie that he looked at his older draft notes and exactly what he wrote down for Ritchie is what he wrote down when Tuch got drafted,,, if that’s the case and becomes close to that , that’s a home run for the Avs
I know we don’t know what the potential of newy could have been, I personally wanted to keep him, but we basically traded 1 for 1 but also picked up a 1st round pick? Solid work McFarland and Sakic! This is a good move even tho again, I really wanted to keep newy.
