Adding an all star level goalie to this line up almost feels like gilding the lily. Feels greedy to even want one, but if it can be done for the right price why not? I’m hesitant about a goalie who wants a long term deal, but fitz should have the full confidence of the fan base with whatever he wants to do.

If Devils get Hellabucks it might be the fastest a team has ever gone from picking top 3 to *the* cup favorite.
Who would you rather have between Hellebuyck Ullmark and Swayman and why?
Also if any of those three play out I’m going to buy a custom nameplated Fitzgerald jersey.
I feel like at this point Fitzy just has the Doom soundtrack playing in his head. Ripping and tearing.
I’ve been pretty against the idea BUT am actually more interested in it now with Toffolli. Go hard for 2023-24, but zero interest in re-signing Hellebuyck long term.

Goodness don’t get Ullmark… Boston should have won the Cup and he lost it for them. Absolutely NOT the goalie I’m interested in… just another Tukka Rask.
Not really interested in Swayman all that much either; I don’t feel he’s that much of an upgrade on Schmid. Ullmark and Swayman also play extremely insulated minutes like a Carolina goalie, that’s why you don’t trust taking someone from the Canes…
John Gibson or Connor Hellebuyck is the guy. Hunt one of those two down…

I genuinely love the idea of getting either of the Boston goalies. Ulmarks is a little older but I like that he has 2 years left on his deal as opposed to 1 left for Helle. With both my concern is the extension, but 2 years gives us time to really see what we have in Schmid and we know Ulmark works well in tandem.
Also very high on Swayman as a younger, long-term option in the net and would be absolutely stoked on a Swayman-Schmid tandem.
Will be interesting to see which guy Boston makes available, but idk if the Devils are the best fit. Vitek likely has to go the other way if you’re trading for any goalie of significance and not sure Boston wants to take on any salary so you’d likely need a 3rd team involved.
Can someone with more brains than me tell me… can we even afford Helley right now?
I would take Hellebyuck for sure. He is a top tier NHL goalie. But not giving up much. Certainly open to having him in the playoffs.
I want to keep Schmid regardless.
I don’t see Ullmark or Swayman as comparable to Hellebyuck, tbh, even with Ullmark’s Vezina. That team had 3 or 4 players over plus 40. Ullmark’s year is a product of that. Buffalo dumped him for a reason.
