Jimmy Vesey knocked Matt Irwin into the boards here from the back. No penalty was called on the play. Tough Call will be reviewing the incident. Should there have been a penalty? Have your say!
legal hit, finish your check, and protect yourself when going near the boards…I am happy to see he didnt show his numbers as a defence tactic. hitting is one of the best aspects of hockey (no head blows or elbows).
I’m less concerned with the hit from behind (Irwin turned into it) than I am with the distance from the boards. I think Vesey had to let up on this one
Well… It's a 'tough call' Vesey was staring directly at Irwin's numbers the entire time and still decided to finish the hit but he clearly didn't follow through with full power, on the other hand Irwin also saw Vesey coming the entire time and put himself into an even worse position despite knowing the hit was coming. It probably should've been 2 minutes but I can see why this wouldn't be called.

I wouldn’t call that a hit, both players were ready for it. More like a gentle push.

Vesey was nice in telegraphing the hit and Irwin obliged by moving his shoulders sideways. Well choreographed.
