  1. i’m genuinely shocked, Yamamoto i wasn’t surprised i had a feeling he was gone but Kostin? His upside was looking so good he was playing physical and putting up points while only getting better. Getting rid of him for pretty much nothing is wild

  2. All reports were that Kostin was asking for too much money, and was threatening going to the KHL. Holland knows he can only pay his 4th liners less than $1mil and Kostin wanted $1.75

  3. I don’t like this at all. We needed cap space so I was ready to lose some players I like, but we could have done something, anything, to keep Kostin. He adds that physical presence that’s so important in the playoffs, and has proven he can put up points there too. I’m sad for the Klim Reaper

  4. klim has high interest from KHL teams that can apparently out bid us, and he asking 400k more than what holland offered, and tbh his offer was 1.250 mil range according to twit, so 1.625 isn’t bad for klim
    imo

  5. Sad about both of them going, they're both good players. Kostin is one I'm going to be a little bitter about because it was said that he either wanted around $2 million from an NHL team or to go back to the KHL. Oilers just couldn't make that work and didn't want to give him that much money. Seems like he really loved the team, but I guess not enough to take a discount of $500k for one year and possibly get a longer/more expensive contract next year when the cap goes up. On one hand I get it, he's been in the AHL for most of his short career and wants to earn as much money as possible. But on the other hand… he's been in the AHL for most of his career. We're going to be paying Ryan McLeod about $2 million a year and he's a centre who's been in the league for 2 years and can play both special teams. I think Klim's agent is asking for a bit too much.

  6. Can you imagine I bought a Kostin jersey in April? Top it off with a Barrie jersey 18 months ago, hahahaha. I promise I won't buy a Nuge lest I curse him.

  7. As an Oilers fan, I love Klim Shady. But he is an RFA with arbitration rights, and I think the team and Klim weren’t agreeing on a qualifying offer. So to avoid paying him a ton in arbitration, we send him in the deal. Makes sense to me.

If Detroit lets him go to free agency and he resigns with us for cheap, then all the better!

  8. I love Yammers, but I knew he wouldn't be making it back. Losing Kostin though is a big blow

  9. He’s an RFA with Arb rights. Oilers would’ve had to overpay to keep him. Sad but smart move by Kenny

  10. Hopefully for the Oiler fans that loved Kostin, you get him back. Blue Jays fans will remember when fan favorite John McDonald was basically traded for himself. He was the future consideration.

  11. If I’m being honest idrc about Kosygin I just care so much about yams I really love him he’s by far my fav palyer

  12. Nothing else Holland could have really done they need the cap space and there was really no one else that could have been traded. Don’t say Campbell no one’s taking him.

  13. edmonton is gonna get slapped hard. no more cap space for bouchard, who will command a big payday. i will magic 8-ball and say bouchard is gonna get offer sheeted or signed to a nurse level payday close to 10M because ken holland is a hack.

the bottom 6 and top 6 and bottom 4 is in deseprate need of a massive upgrade. and no, ek65 isnt the fix, not at 11.5M. Playoff futility is gonna define the leon mcdavid era of oilers hokcey if this is the best roster they can muster.

  14. Loosing Kostin hurts, especially for nothing.
Maybe it’s time to let go of head office for future considerations!
