Here's a hot take for ya: I think because the linesmen have been breaking up fights early there are going to be more fights in the long run. Guys know that the linesmen will come in fast to help them so they are more willing to tilly. If the NHL wants to reduce the number of fights, they should encourage the linesmen to let them go longer, not break up fights faster.
All those people wishing that refs don't stop any fighting immediately, should realize they do it for safety reasons. Sure it is entertaining, but players may get concussion, or worse, long term side effects like brain damage or CTE. Will you still be clapping if your favorite players get injured so badly they are either out for the season or end their careers?
