I thought his name had a familiar hockey sound to it. Keep an eye on him. You never know. Red Wings are taking a lot of defensemen.
Every once in a while 4th and 5th round picks show up 3 or 4 years later and turn into career NHL'ers. Jamie Benn is just one example. Defensemen and Defensive prospects always have trade value, so it's good to see us pick so many. Eventually we will have 6 solid seasoned D men on the Wings. I feel in about 2 or 3 more years the Wings will have a very talented farm system with kids coming up every year challenging for a spot. We're just not there yet. It's only been 4 years of the Yzerplan rebuild and his 5th draft. What's another 3 years, right? I say that sarcastically. Yes, it's nice drafting a ton of kids. Only about 2 or 3 actually become NHL players each year so you have to draft as many as possible each year. But this waiting game sucks. The Wings have barely improved. The media covers Yzerman's butt and gush about how much improved they are, but that is a bunch of bull. Yes the Wings of today are better than 4 years ago, but only by maybe 3 or 4 more wins a year. We will continue to SUCK until we can score a lot more goals period.
