  1. Wallinder seems like the exact kind of player they need. Maybe some more physicality would have been nice, but good size and has shown he can be decent offensively, but more importantly, he could be a great fit for Quinn Hughes. He played with Sandin-Pellikka and basically had to be the Luke Schenn in that tandem and did very well. I was actually concerned that that would take SP instead because of his offensive acumen, but they wisely I think went with the guy with more overall upside. For a guy who’s only been a defenseman for a few years, he’s a pretty impressive player. At that spot, everyone was basically 2-3 years from being NHL ready, so I don’t know how they could have done much better. Time will tell.

  2. Having to bypass Benson was the price for not having any top flight d-men in the system. That just couldn’t go on any longer, because the hole just gets bigger if you’re trading for d-men, or getting them as UFAs.

Buffalo, with the young players it already had, could afford to take a player like Benson.

  3. Next Erik Karlsson or maker I knew they get Him they liked there swedes Hughes be 25 before come over if canucks didn't win any Games we could of got top 5 picked 2 years 2021 2022

  4. Mind blowing to hear this "one tear maybe two" in Boston nonsense when both the player and his family have said degree first last I checked that is 4 years not one….

  5. How many games does a first rounder play in the NHL the next year? Do they even average more than 10? Even Pettersson took a year so that was zero for him.

  6. I never thought much about Hamhuis, and then I saw him play live. Jaw dropping good. Not in the flashy offensive lane, but everything he did was so precise, efficient, effective and almost always the correct play. If Wallinder is a poor man's Hamhuis the pick will be a home run.

  7. Love the pick, I wasn't expecting any trades, but I am expecting them to overpay in free agency…

  8. 3rd line centres available for Canucks are a lot of ex penguins ….Teddy bleuger, evan Rodrigues, zac Aston Reese

Dman I could see them go for are dumoulin, soucy, Cole, cal foote, Connor Clifton

  9. He's going to blow people away at the young stars tourney. His speed is jaw dropping.

  10. Buffalo wanted Willander. They had hope to pair him with Power. Benson is a nice pick, but he is a lot like Savoy. Great pick. Tip of the cap from a Sabre fan.

  11. I’m very happy with the pick. Willander exudes confidence and maturity. He’s also aware of the deficiencies in his game and is eager to work on them.
