TLDR, quick, greiss, Talbot are guys to watch for backup role, Hathaway would like to play for laviolette again, and Goodrow is still at risk of a buyout.

With the money saved if Goodrow is traded or bought out they could re-sign Motte, sign a 4C, and elevate Cuylle. That will still leave them with the $11.4mil in cap space, possibly a couple hundred thousand more, but with two less positions they need to fill.

I’m not expecting us to see Goodrow bought out. We will know for sure in an hour but I have a feeling he’s staying.

There is some valuable info the the last two paragraphs that gives contexts as well as additional upside to two of our draft picks.
>The Rangers were thrilled to catch highly skilled wing Gabe Perreault at No. 23 as well as lanky defenseman Drew Fortescue at No. 91. Both picks came up through the U.S. National Team Development Program and played for new Rangers assistant coach Dan Muse the last two years and both are headed to Boston College in the fall.
>With such a huge crop of draft-eligible players out of the USNTDP — and extra input from Muse, who joined Laviolette’s staff last week — the Rangers scouting staff saw plenty of both players.
I’m not sure if Lav and crew will be around by the time these guys start playing, but having the existing relationship with the two players is certainly valuable.
