  1. Does mailloux have the green light to play NHL? Could this have influenced Mtl, have they been pressured not tontake the russian wonder? Especially since the stunt they pulled drafting said mailloux.

  2. Funny how Tony Marinaro talked about the name debacle that Reinbacher appeared very unhappy, as if attending a funeral. Should have been the happiest day of his young life.

  3. even though i was disappointed with the pick i truly get the importance of having a top pairing rhd that can log a ton of minutes and shut down opposition. i 1000% support this kid as i want him to prove all the toxic snowflakes wrong.

  4. Id rather Hugues saying what he really think about the dude, than saying what people wants to hear. This is why people love him.

  5. The difference between reinbacher and Kent huges team vs KK and Bergevin team is the development team around the team. Montreal makes good pick under Bergevin but never developing them the right way. That's why right now the half of the teams was pick by Bergevin but now they play like they are supposed to play

  6. I just think everyone including fans and all media is just way over accessing this pick and the one unfortunate person is caught in the middle who in no way deserves this kind of negativity.

  7. You've never heard of politics. Hughes simply lowered expectations. I evaluated Rienbacher several months ago and he was, in my opinion, the best D prospect in the draft and right-handed (Big plus). Since then he has improved further. Please guys and girls, get on the Reinbacher train. He may be better and have a greater impact than three prospects drafted before him and several after him.

  8. Guess what? Hughes doesn’t care what armchair draft experts think about his picks.

    Exactly what this town needs.

  9. Who's the last Hab to lead the league in scoring? I'm guessing it was 40+ years ago….and counting.

  10. I heard from an inside source that they planned on taking matvei michkov but Carey couldn't pronounce the name so they changed their mind to something he could pronounce like David reinbacher 🙄🙄 and look how that went

    ..

Ps (I made that up, lol)

  11. Not a bad pick. At 6'2 190+lbs, Reinbacher is NHL sized unlike some other players in the top 5. He is a playmaker, offensive-defensman, with a pass first, shoot second mentality. The way Reinbacher somehow picks up a point every other game, reminds me of Andrei Markov. His shut down game is on par, he could probably shut down Michkov and Leonard in 1 v 1 situations, maybe even Bedard or Fantili. If Kent picked all forwards AGAIN, I think he'd look silly. On top of that, our squad has an actual need for a player like that. Our problems with scoring do not come from our top 6. We already have a 50 goal guy in Caufield and several other 25-30 goal guys (Anderson, Dach, Suzuki). We need defensive and bottom 6 scoring and playmaking chemistry to be a cup contender, this Reinbacher is our guy.

  12. We had so much problems with forward last year.
    5th selection totally wasted IMO.
And we dont even have any single elite forward.

What Hughes is thinking. So sad.

  13. Hes not gonna run the powerplay because hes hand picked to play with Hudson. Not to agree or disagree but i think that's the context in Hughes brain. A LD and a RD pair.

  14. They passed onpick #5, 6,7,8,9,10,11,12 and 13 to get him. If Habs are so deep in young D…which is what they claim…they still need scoring. #5 pick should have been the russian! You drop one or maybe two spots to get the player you want…NOT 8!! HE SCREWED UP!

  15. I guess they figure to be in the bottom 5-10 the next couple of seasons as well, so they will go with a bigger bodied Center to fill our offensive woes. Im a little skeptical with the Newhook deal as well considering that out of the 2 picks given away for him, there is a good chance 1 of the 2 will be a better value (very deep draft).

  16. Hey, let's face it. KH is a rookie GM. If Gorton spoke French, he would be GM.

  17. Super disappointing. It's a continuation of the organizational philosophy to be allergic to offensive talent and greatness. This was safe, cowardly, and inflammatory towards the fanbase. A continuation of the failures from a loser organization.

  18. i guess we have to make the supposition that Hughes wanted to take all the pressure for this pick and lowering the expectations, which can be OK. like you say, this is the Montreal market and each player is different and will not react the same to pressure. All we can do right now is trust them for the pick and wait.

  19. I see what LR is saying and Hughes had already put his foot in his mouth long before draft night. In a market like Montreal, speaking to the media words need to be chosen carefully and thoroughly otherwise it leaves too much open for interpretation and the media will twist those words off course.
On LD, Montreal's depth is already overflowing with current players plus prospects so it wouldn't have made sense to add another if Reinbacher was a left handed shot.
Saying Reinbacher wouldn't be a 1st PP point man, he hasn't played a single game in the NHL…it's best to stick to his floor and not project a ceiling at this point. That way, if it (ceiling) doesn't turn out that way in a few years the media can't throw it back in Hughes' face.
Reinbacher is said to be NHL ready now but will spent another year in Europe. By the end of next season, his projected ceiling could be considerably raised…but don't put that pressure on the kid. The Habs will oversee his development, weaknesses to work on and strengths to build on. He wants to finish his education in Europe which is good for development despite being "NHL ready" and it gives time for media and fans to cool their jets a bit before he arrives.

  20. For everyone that is not happy about the trade, at least put things into perspective, and take a look at Arizona. Feel better? Lol

  21. when St-louis drafted Pietrangelo, it probably wasnt a sexy pick . Dmen are not sexy picks ..thats it ..draft the qb over a dline like every fan base wants

  22. You’re way off base by every hockey mind this was the most offensive draft loaded group of recent times. So what did that idiot Hughes do draft a defenseman Hello we need big forwards and goal scores!!!!! He should have kept at least one of the 31 and 35 draft picks and hopefully pick him there. He gives both draft picks for a 30 pt scorer. He has no upside he is what he is 3 or 4 line we don’t need that!!!! I can’t even say the guys name I’m so madEven Bergervin would not give up those draft picks for a 30 pt scorer.

  23. Deepest draft for forwards in recent memory and this genius selects 2 defensmen, 2 goalies and a goon in the first 4 rounds🤣🤣
