OK, Carlson it is! Big guy who needs to learn how to throw is weight around but a very good two way center and can score too.
Bedard > Michkov > Fantilli > Carlsson … I wish Ducks would of taken the 2yr – 3yr wait bullet and got Michkov , we need a true scoring center and after this draft we are still in need of one (sad) … Carlsson 10 goals & 15 assist in 44 games last year isn't giving much confidence , and i know he's playing against adults but cmon Fantilli and Michkov would've been able to put up 20+ goals there
Here's to hoping the Ducks know what they're doing and somehow it all works out! I guess maybe they think Mctavish is going to become a 40 goal scoring center within next 2 – 3 years (hopefully so!) … and I really do think Carlsson will be a amazing winger , just hope Ducks have a plan for getting more goals out of the center position
Fantilli wanted to be picked by Columbus. I think the ducks knew that he didnât want to play in Anaheim.
I am happy with the pick; âč secretly preferred Carlsson but was preparing for Fantili because I wasnât sure they had the guts to pass on him. This is why I was hoping for the trade back to 4 or 5.
I had an eirie feeling about Fantilli not because he isnât a good player . He will definitely contribute to winning culture but I couldnât see one elite trait. Heâs just very good at everything and thus was very productive in a stacked Michigan lineup. Fantilli has solid size, has a good shot, has good puck skills, has good motor, and is a good skater.
But to have the puck on your stick as a franchise center man means you need to be elite elite at something and maybe he figures out that something but right now itâs not there.
Carlsson has two elite traits: elite size and elite hockey sense, with puck handling skills and enough skating ability for his size. I see him being able to dictate play in an elite way with this attributes. At the end of the day the best players think the game at a high high level and thatâs usually instincts developed through years of playing.
Carlsson has that ability to keep the puck on his stick and constantly stress the defense and make some really good plays.
Areas for improvement for him will be fill out his frame; better skating mechanics, and become a better finishers both with his size on players and his shot.
As far as Mitchkov I understand the risk and why they could not pass on other players for him. I wish him well, the tragedy with his dad is heartbreaking đ and truly hope there was no foul play.

Great, send hime back to Sweden for another year, then a year in AHL to learn North American game. Two more years with a top 5 pick, Thats what 8 years no playoffs? After 4 years of Eakins fans wanted something to be excited about and the jersey sucks. Just bring back Grant and give Silf another 3 years at 5.5 all will be fine…..
I dunno man, as a die hard Ducks fan I'm not happy with this. I don't know what they're seeing and I hope this pans out but I see a wasted opportunity and more mediocrity.
Carlssonâs a special player⊠higher ceiling than Fantilli IMO. His play making and vision is definitely better than Fantilli.
