[Seravalli on H&B] Seravalli thinks Canucks have had a deal in place with Sharks for Tyler Myers for weeks and doesn’t know what the hold up is and if it will get done, but the teams have talked. “People assumed because of the bonus [paid in September] a trade is not possible, that’s not the case”.

Couldn’t fit the full quote in the title:
    > “I believe the Canucks have had a deal on the table for Tyler Myers for weeks…I don’t know what the hold up is, I don’t know if it will get done..but I believe the Canucks and Sharks have talked about Tyler Myers. I don’t know where that’s going but something to keep an eye on.. People assumed because of the bonus a trade is not possible, that’s not the case”.

    Servalli about Free Agency:
    – Seravalli says lots of rumblings with Canucks and Soucy. Sometimes the interest is just amplified by others but in this case there is some real interest for Soucy.

    About other trades:
    – Nothing on JT Miller, took him out of his trade targets list;
    – They’d still like to find a suitor for Garland. That hasn’t been easy and they don’t want to pay to move him as they don’t need it after the OEL buyout.
    – He thinks Ethan Bear injury has no impact on the Myers trade because Bear is still above replacement level right now, there are cheaper options out there to change the defense.

Well that’s a trade partner I would have never guess in a million years.

I’m going to wildly assume SJ is trying to get prospects from us and the hold up is them asking for a guy like Hoglander and us trying to trade someone worse

This is big if true. The Sharks have plenty of cap space.

  5. NerdPunch

Im guessing the Sharks are looking at it through the lens of..

We need a body on the right side, and we can probably flip him for futures at the deadline by retaining 1/2 of his $1M salary.

If true, the hold up is probably either trying to move Karlsson first. Don’t want to have both Myers and Karlsson against the cap or it has to do with Myers 10 team no trade list. I think those refresh every July 1 and we’re 2 days out.

  7. Probably waiting until a Karlsson trade gets done beforehand. I like where this is going…

  8. HarveySpecter1970

San Jose is probably waiting to move Karlsson first

With Myers gone will we have the smallest D-core in the NHL?

Seems like a great playoff plan.

This must be the reason we drafted Vilmer. There must always be a giraffe in Vancouver.

Is Aqua forcing this before the bonus pay out? Lessen the OEL pain for him?

  12. joetothejack

Seravalli again guys. It’s quite obvious his sources with the team are gone because he keeps throwing shit at the fan. I’ll believe it when I see it.

No one else worried about possible sweetener we would have to give up?

And here I thought that the deal was with the San Diego Wildlife Park.

  16. Would make sense if the deal is on hold until Karlsson is dealt. I hope that’s the only reason

I don’t think anyone said a trade isn’t possible because of that. But the cash movement in trades is a serious point of concern for many owners and management teams so having it so late in the summer when people have talked themselves into their near final rosters makes that kind of trade tougher.

FWIW I bet the holdup on this trade is the Sharks sorting out a Karlsson deal and needing a bullet sponge to replace him on their blueline.

dont get my hopes up… addition by subtraction

  19. dudesszz

Teams could take Myers now for nothing essentially then flip him at the deadline when his salary is virtually nothing. Makes sense

  20. mindless_sheep_btw

There going to wait after free agency and make sure they can sign Soucy or whoever than trade Myers with a 2025 2nd to SJ.

  21. Thelynxer

I don’t understand the logic of trading Myers right now if we have to basically pay someone to take him. Makes far more sense to trade him at the deadline to a playoff team that wants experience and depth, so we can actually GAIN something from the trade.
