Hammers must sign Alex Scott instead of JWP | West Ham can’t invest Rice money in old codgers

West Ham are reported to have made a £22m offer for Bristol City midfielder Alex Scott. The 19 year old has represented England at junior age groups and is highly sought after. Players of his ilk and age surely represent far batter value than James Ward Prowse or Palhinha from Fulham.

  1. I think we are being a bit unrealistic trying to sign a championship player sad as it sounds the kid would probably say no , the mob that run our club are clueless, all they want is money in , ⚒️⚒️

  2. Agree we have to ditch the long established West Ham OAP policy, which means no Walker. Signing older players sends a message to players and teams: we are a retirement home and not a serious contender. If I were an up and coming player and saw that we sold Rice, brought in Walker, I'd be thinking we had no ambition or promise. Somewhere that you can get huge wages during your declining years. At 34, Walker will decline month by month: a reduction in pace and an increase in njuries are statistically going to become prohibitive with the changed training methods and the lack of rotation we can offer compared with City. Young up and coming players please, with the odd 27-29 mentor/leader in the squad. From this perspective, Prowse makes sense.

  3. 💯 would take him, but I would love Sofyan Amrabat as well. Wanted him for years, I'd prefer over Paulinho. Looks like could go to Atletico now but great energy tempo pass.

  4. John "" Arsenal" Cross was on Talksport earlier to talk about transfers and said in so many words that if west ham want over 100M for Declan then why wouldn't Fulham want 90Mi for Pahlinha? No sour grapes there then. Hey John, I've got a great idea, why don't we pay Arsenal 90m to take Dec off our hands? I also noticed ( and why didn't I think this wasn't coming?) that we've got the first rumblings of the media trying to sell Paqueta off, we just can't have anything at West Ham can we?

  5. Arsenal are a joke 🤣 bunch of bottlers. Hope he goes to City but would prefer him to also go to anyone else rather than than the bottlers

  6. We should have signed Bissouma last season. We even had the option before Spurs….

Gallagher, Johnson and Barnes I think are the right age and somewhat feasible targets.

I’m at a loss as to who our defensive cm should be…

  7. The Guernsey Grealish! As a proud Guernseyman and long time West Ham fan, I'd LOVE to see Alex at The London Stadium.

  8. >£40m for JWP makes no sense at all. He simply doesn't fit our system unless he is to replace Soucek. It is a lot of money for a player who is good at set pieces and has little or no sell-on value

  9. I like this signing but it doesn't seem realistic to me. If we accept we need 2 new midfielders to replace Rice in the starting 11, that means we'll be signing 3 midfielders probably spending the best part of £90million. Then people will want a striker, Harvey Barnes also etc…

  10. Just maybe, and I'm trying to believe this, Decs replacement is Downes and Scott is Paqueta's replacement. The purchases this year will be improvement on Soucek, Sofal and Antonio. He did it with Bowen and Benny.
Maybe just maybe Moyes has a decent plan. The Club has sold some very big transfer lies in the last few years and I'm not that concerned till the last transfer day is done

  11. Couple of questions here Gonzo,1/ Is Rob Newman still head of recruitment or have I missed something and he ain’t with us anymore?2/Delaying the appointment of Director of Football is this going to hurt our transfer dealings, surely it will, especially if it’s down to him summer recruitment?

  12. Get a load of the youngsters in, if you are looking to inject some enthusiasm, energy and speed into the team and keep the oldies for the experience, insight and knowledge.
A mixture of both is always the way to go for longevity (as one naturally replaces the other). Can be the same said for managers but who pays the money, makes the choice!

  13. We should play 1 defensive pivot (rice replacement) and two 8's (paquetá and Scott)

  14. scott really good player but under nigel pearson he was given a free roll in midfield under moyes he won't get that?

  15. as for technical director of football who will be responsible for picking and buying the players for the manager to use who's picking the players we are link with now when a technical director is not in place ? he may not want scott or barness?
