REACTION Evgeni Malkin OT Goal in game 1 vs the NYR – 22 PLAYOFFS



The New York Rangers lose game 1 in OT to the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Rangers got out to an early lead when Adam Fox scored a power play goal. Then early in the 2nd period Andrew Copp scores to make it 2-0 rangers. Jake Guentzel would then score 2 goals to tie the game in the 2nd period. On a penalty kill the Rangers leading goal scorer Chris Kreider gets a beautiful feed from Mika Zibanejad and Kreids buries it 3-2 Rangers. Bryan Rust would then score on a 5 on 3 advantage and at the end of the 2nd period it is 3-3. The Rangers with 3 minutes left in the 3rd period score a goal, Filip Chytil follows up a juicy rebound and puts it behind DeSmith but the goal is then overturned and called for goalie interference by Kappo Kakko. Fast foward to the 3rd OT, Evgeni Malkin wins it on a deflection for the Pittsburgh Penguins. Igor Shesterkin with 79 saves, 2nd most all time in a playoff game.
