JQ a Ranger ❤
The Leafs are a joke. I mean, even JVR at 1 over 1 would have helped a bit. Can't even do that! No, they have to pay a 36 year old Burke era meathead to term so he can throw a punch. The guy is not a good NHL player. He sucks. If your team overall just isn't "tough," adding one musclehead doesn't make much of a difference. You can't give the guy anything more than 5-6 minutes a game because he sucks.
Blake got his pushback back?
This is why Blake Wheeler is so frustrating. All about the team, all about himself, all about the team, all about himself. So hard to figure out if he is a net asset.
Wheels has been a true leader on the Jets. He has dealt with so many issues in the locker room. I see him as a strong 3rd line winger on NYR and I hope he has fun!
NYR got Copp from the Jets…
Gees… seriously? The heck is going on with the Rangers? And now Quick?
He wanted so badly out of cold Winnipeg to go to New York the money dont matter.
Reeves. ?. How much? 37 when the season is on and 40 + when the contract is done? WTF?
I like that Quick is making $25k more than Wheeler.
Not sure why you guys are bagging on Wheeler. He's basically John Tavares on a fraction of the dollars. $11M vs just under $1M. Travares – 80 points in 80 games / 1.0 PPG. 39 of those points came on the power play so only 41 points came 5 on 5. Travares was a -7 and could not play on the penalty kill. Wheeler 55 points in 72 games / .76 PPG. 15 of those points came on the power play so 40 points came 5 on 5. -3 on a poorer team. Also killed penalties.
As captain of the Jets, Wheeler led the Jets to a conference final. What has Tavares done as captain with the Leafs? One play off series win over a team that was badly beat up by injuries and the effort it took to get to three straight Stanley Cup finals.
Don't see leadership being an issue. Trouba is the captain. It will be nice for Wheeler to go in and just do his thing. Let the younger guy deal with any issues. As someone who is a couple years away from retirement, I can relate. Time for the younger people to come up with the 5 year plan.
And the litteral BUM of a player Ryan Reaves gets???… 😂😂😂
Stats are misleading. I would not say the Rangers were a bad defensive team; the forwards were responsible back checking and the D core is as good as anyone. The issue has been an inability to generate sustained 5v5 offense resulting in enough shots and costly turnovers playing too much East West style.
The roster was also flawed since they didn’t have two RWs for the Top 6. Then at the deadline they would add a guy to complete the team; Andrew Copp and Vlad Tarasenko. I
Rangers lost to the Devils who were faster than them but the series was odd with several lopsided games. I think that was the worst matchup they could have drawn honestly; speed and the rivalry factor inspiring the Devils. They fired Gallant and changed coaching staffs to Laviolette, which I have my doubts about, but I think the team bounces back to play inspired hockey this season.
Call a guy off the streets? Rangers are not the Leafs!
If Quick doesn’t work out, Rangers have Dylan Garand to call up. He won Gold at U20 for Canada in 2022.
Love Wheeler. I have his jersey and attribute him to blue collar reliability. He's getting up there in age, but heck, I just want to see him enjoy the game.
Wheeler was only -3 last year. What are you talking about?
