Just talked to a college friend whose a big Boston fan and watched this guy play a-lot, he said heās a 4th liner, bottom 6, plays hard so you know Torts will love him, a hitter, and a solid defender. Also the contract is 2×2.3, hoping he has a solid year till deadline where we can flip him to a depth needy playoff team for a pick.

[Garnet Hathaway](https://i.imgur.com/iXcBuQl.png) is an effective two way forward who is especially good at getting his team powerplay opportunities. Last year, particularly after getting traded to Boston, he showed an increased ability to finish chances, but had mostly been average in that department previously.

I canāt stand Hathawayā¦but now that heās a Flyer? Iām pretty hyped! Sandpaper guy who isnāt a negative for his team. Short term during the rebuild and heās definitely entertaining. I donāt mind this signing.
Worth noting that Hathaway is one of the 4th liners that looks good by the eye test that also grades out well by analytics (A lot don’t, like Deslauriers and MacEwen). For a cheapish contract during rebuilding years that can possibly help with culture, I like the move.
I do think that this makes Allison’s spot very in jeopardy though if he’s not kept as a 13th/14th forward.

Itās cool, I watched him play a lot for the Capitals and heās definitely a character. Heās skates well for a 4th liner and has flashes of offense too.
