Yes, thankfully he’s not a leaf anymore

  2. arcus_angelus

Time will tell, but this move right now, on July 1st 2023, looks effn horrible. Easily the worst.

  3. ChilleeMonkee

Yeah he was an off brand pylon for the leafs, I’m not thrilled with this

  4. pzagrbge

Wings have 30 mil in cap space and are trying to stay at the floor through a rebuild. People are jumping the gun on where the team is at and what still needs to be done.

  5. Similar_Two_7375

He sucks, Crybaby Detroit fans think he is good. Have fun in your “Yzerplan” LOL

  6. Domestic_Chaos

Honestly I thought the Reimer signing was worse

  7. mattcojo2

He really got shafted by Toronto.

This may be an Aaron hicks scenario.

  8. dcaksj22

He’s tanking. Do people never listen to his pressers? He’s openly said he wants to rebuild his way now

  9. TayOs1998

Thank you Steve now maybe Keefe can actually ice the best possible team

  10. Prudent_Shame_4531

The Chariot move was definitely worse than this one, and I think the PTSD from it is part of the extreme reactions to this signing. Ben Chariot is legitimately a hockey terrorist.

  11. momarketeer

Not strapped for cash. Not a contender. And not really losing anything. Don’t be so dramatic.

  12. starroftheshow

Despite what people say, Yzerman is quite mediocre as a GM.

  13. antigonecanadensis53

man some people never got taught patience at a young age and it shows go fucking support the hawks

  14. smcfarlane

Yzerman has done pretty much nothing good as Detroit’s GM.

  15. Tall-Grapefruit3833

Cap space? More like cap dance! Yzerman’s secretly training them for a synchronized salary floor routine!

  16. Loose-Industry9151

He may not be Larry Murphy but he’s definitely one of those Leaf players who get run out of town and then Leaf fans realize that the player wasn’t so bad.

  17. DependentHalf5498

Hey, let’s not panic! Yzerman’s just playing 4D chess with our cap space.

  18. Sillygoose709

Don’t care if it’s Stevie y’s worst mistake , just glad he’s gone from my team

  19. dylanisbored

He’s gonna play better not in toxic Toronto as their whipping boy

  20. the_noodle_

Holl was a whipping boy in Toronto, he’s a big body, is great on the PK, eats shots and is not nearly as bad as some fans would want you to think. This is coming from a leafs fan! Am honestly bummed to see him go

  21. ViolinistMean199

I love how people immediately judge a player on a signing or a just drafted player. Like chill let’s see how it plays out

Pens and leafs both gave up McCann and he scored like 40 goals with Seattle. Holl might look like a solid D in Detroit. Give it some time

  22. mcflyr63

Absolutely not. It’s more of a cap floor signing and people are freaking out. He’s a big body that blocks shots and can eat some minutes. That’s literally all Detroit needs him to do. I don’t like the Reimer signing.

  23. Jimmy_October

No. He is a victim of the dumbass Leaf fan vitriol machine.

Holl will be great in DET

  24. middletown-dreams

Justin Holl the type of player to leave the leafs and carry his team to the Stanley Cup

  25. Secret_Mango2530

well, he sucks ass, so yeah, this is a bad move from an objective standpoint. he’s a bad player.

  26. CoolBrain1227

I trust Stevie. If he does this right and has a little luck, the Wings could be back to a franchise like they were in the early 90s.

  27. wbtravi

I think he will do just fine like he did with Tampa

  28. No_Good2934

Doesn’t really seem significant one way or the other.

  29. Necessary-Mousse8518

    Nope, not even close.

Yzerman is being patient and biding his time.

Some say he’s being too patient, and they may be correct.

I thought Killorn and O’Reilly may have been on their way to Detroit on 2 or 3-year deals.

    Detroit needs help, no doubt.

  30. MandogsXL

So they didn’t pay Yams 3.1M for 1 year just so they could sign Holl for 3.4 for 3 years? I’m really not sure about that one

  31. TheRitalinCommando

Yzerman’s worst move as GM was keeping Jeff Blashill. And he repeated that mistake for several years.

  32. Hutch25

How is it people forget a team is rebuilding only a few months after they said they would? That’s Stan Bowman levels of goldfish memory right there

  33. ThatHouseCDN780

Wait until you see JT Comphers deal

  34. NefCanuck

Well, this signing will either damn Holl as a D man in Detroit or damn Keefe and his Leafs staff as coaches 🤷‍♂️

  35. Professional-Hour604

Wasn’t even his worst signing today…

  36. mattevs119

    >Nonsense! I have not yet begun to defile myself.

    *-Stevie Y probably*

  37. bobbyboogie69

As a Leafs fan I can’t tell you how glad we are to be rid of Holl….every time he hit the ice I was waiting for the mistake that was going to cost us. Detroit overpaid him big time.

  38. Ok_Conversation2811

After 3 full years he couldn’t even break .500 That expectation shouldn’t have been out the question, but it was.

  39. BigHogDawg

Man it’s too bad they can’t hire you as the GM…

  40. North-Evidence-2352

Yzerman just letting everyone know that Brisebois was always the real GM in Tampa

  41. North-Evidence-2352

Wings rebuild looks like a bad DIY

  42. itsMurphDogg

Honestly, a new set of teammates and coaches can change a lot for a player, so who knows.
