  1. Matheson, who is probably our #2 D right now, is still quite young. I think he gets moved in a monster deal for a superstar forward when Hutson is ready to join the team.

  2. There will be a trade for sure, we have too much D-man haha

I was disappointed that we did not draft a forward, but I am still happy with the pick!

  3. 3 defensemen people are sleeping on is William Trudeau, Petteri Nurmi and Miguel Tourigny. Trudeau with all the injuries took a leading role in the D core of Laval and he seem to be a great all around defenseman, a lot like Harris really. Nurmi is a pure defensive one, but he play in the Liiga with men so and Tourigny could be a great surprise cause he is a lot like Trudeau and Harris and now he is playing in Slovakia with men…Our defensive core is insane long term !!

  4. I would suggest not second-guessing Hughes and MSL. They have a plan, and they stick to their knitting.

One thing to pay attention to: there are some highly intelligent Habs on this team.

  5. Thing is ,we Did not need another Defenseman where we already had depth .Large sized Skilled forwards Are needed and Hughes Dropped the ball hugeky when this was the Deepest crop of forwards😮

  6. About Reinbacher's offensive side that we might have not seen yet; Eric Faille, former teammate and Captain of Reinbacher, said in an interview (in French) that David was kind of timid at first but eventually they were building their powerplay around him. I'm paraphrasing and keeping it brief but Faille seemed very genuine in his praise for Reinbacher. The untapped potential is there.

  7. Defence and Goaltending win Championships. I think the plan was to try to get PLD, then draft a D-man to get elite pieces at BOTH positions. When the PLD deal couldnt be made, Newhook was acquired, and Reinbacher was always the pick Hughes wanted. It's pretty obvious here. Habs still have a large group of Forwards in the prospect pool, like Slaf and Meshar, and Roy and RHP who still could prove to be Offensive threats in the next few years. I REALLY like the "overall team-building" strategy used by Gorton and Hughes in this draft. In 3 years, this team is going to be at or near the top of the Conference and we will have a stacked blueline and Goaltending corps to cheer.

  8. Nice Video dude, for real , at first it was obviously a shocker, like ok it's not the guy I wanted , but that doesnt mean Reinbacher isnt a great player himself lol, its actually a nice feeling to have this deep of a defense prospect group for a change, I cant say ive experienced that once in my 30 year lifetime, and again, a couple days later, its honestly a really nice feeling, bad D just absolutely ruin teams , its the worst kept secret in hockey

  9. If by any chance we get another high pick next year, we will 100% draft a forward this time, the best available. Celebrini or Eiserman are there 👀…never know…

  10. Top D prospect:

    1e – Hutson
    2e – Reinbacher
    3e – Mailloux

Guehle, barron and xhekaj are already with the team, I think Mailloux can be huge for us he has a high celling potential.

  11. Agree on all comments. WE haven't seen so much quality in the back end for years now. We still need to give them time to develop but it looks VERY interesting moving forward. GHule with Reinbacher may be quite a tandem. Mister X with Barron I think could really form good chemistry but I would give Barron more time in Laval at the start of the season to play important minutes there and then bring him up when his defensive game improves. Hutson is 2 years away and Engstrom might be ready next year as he has hockey IQ engraved in him. Mailloux needs 1 complete year in LAval to develop his defensive game. With Struble, it all depends on him. IF he really wants the job, he will have to earn it by opening some eyes! 2 years from now, the defensive corpses will look really cool!

  12. That’s insane! I really like the future of defensive group of Habs. They are going fun to watch, for sure. MTL will have a very solid team in 2-3 years.

  13. When the team is ready there is no stoping them from getting a Panarin or a eichel ect…

In a few years the defense will be insanly ready , skills and toughness ❤

I see Gorton and Hughes going for great players with a SUPER Personnality 🤩🥳 I never saw the habs having so much fun even in the summer going out together like Bro's 🤩 David looks and sounds like the perfect fit ❤

    My 2 cents 🤟

    Pardon my english writing 😊

  14. habs top righthanded dman is hands down right now Logan Mailleux. To say he has had tons of up and downs so far in his career is just NOT correct. He had an injury in JR and yes the non hockey incident in Europe at the U18s. Logan is going to be a star in the NHL. I will give you credit with your comparison to Weber's shot but more than that. Mailleux is a prospect clone of Shea Weber in all aspect including leadership. This kid is something special and thankfully Gorton and Hughes know it.

  15. Hypothetique futur pairing D-core

    HUDSON – Reinbarcher
    GUDLE – MAILLOUX
    WI-FI – Barron

  16. Montreal had 850 fewer shots on goals than the Panthers this past year…. tell me again how we needed 3D men and 3 goalies drafted…this was friggen nuts…

  17. They are drafting for the future, as opposed to what the Habs need right now. It takes more time to develop defensemen, so by the time the rebuild is done they will have a solid blue line to backup the rookie offense.

  18. Top 1 D’s prospects list in the NHL, but a solid problem on the Forwards side. Lot of prospect but way too much Top 9, not a single natural sniper.

  19. I don’t think people realize just how insane of a player Arber Xhekaj is and will be… he will NOT be losing his place on the team to anyone else. Guy is 6’4, 240 and has insanely good skating for his size. Good in his zone, good in the 0-zone, plays physical. He just does it all and still a LOT of room to develop being 21-22 and only 1 season in the NHL. I’m definitely just as excited for this guy as I am for Hutson, Mailloux, and Reinbacher.
    Future D-core is absolutely terrifying:
    Hutson-Reinbacher
    Guhle-Mailloux
    Xhekaj-Barron

  20. Wow how you youtubers switch fidel quick
    Are D is crazy
    Guhlé
    Reinbacher
Matheson (will stay) Savard and Edmunston out this year
    Harris Solid
    Xhekaj
    Mailloux
    Hutson

  21. We have 2 good veteran too ( for now )
    Mathesson and Savard

Montreal have one of the best def potential in the ligue for the future

  22. We still dont have any proven center other than Suzuki, but Suzuki is ehhhhhh just average good player nothing special.
We probably need to tank another 2-3 years for good center/wing drafts.

  23. Reinbacher is big, fast, right hand shot, 2 ways player. It's easier to find PPG forwards than guys like Reinbacher in the UFA.

  24. They clearly want to build the team from the D up. Maybe it'll work, maybe it won't but at least they're developing an identity to base the team on. Looking at what happens in the playoffs, I think they have a decent strategy and are actually trying to build a team with an identity. These 'fans' sending hate to Reinbacher aren't really fans. Direct your lame anger at management not at a just drafted player.

  25. Habs have a good problem at the defense position…. there will be plenty of team approaching the Habs for future trades……

  26. Reinbacher is an absolute stud. So underrated. Y'all don't know what this guy is about. But soon, you'll be watching him dominate the NHL blueline. He's that good.

  27. I heard Guy Boucher on On Jase say that the Swiss league is stronger than the AHL and that he's already the main guy over there at 18yo. A lot of people seem to be underestimating the importance of a strong D-core to win the cup, we're lining ourselves up to have 8 stud defenseman.

  28. Thanks for the video and focusing on the great DMen we have for years to come. Now focus on a great goalie and shore up the offence. We will contend sooner than everyone expects.
