  1. Completely 😢 lost faith in this used-car salesman. P. "Best Swede Available" Allvin. 5 hours before his pick, he said, "No question. We're drafting the 'Best Player Available' …", with a straight face!!! BENSON was available (consensus top 8 pick!) , and he passed. Polite response: deceitful. Ask Allvin WHERE was Benson ranked on their FULL list (not who they thought would be available at 11)? If he says their scouting department had Benson ranked LESS than 11, then he's lying. He drafted for POSITION, period; no doubt. And WHAT A WASTE of a pick, because of that. Benson, Barlow, Wood, Moore, ALL ranked higher on anyone's list over Willander. Allvin COULDN'T make a trade, while the entire league are making salary dump trades (but HE can't find anyone to make a deal with) FORCING him to do the OEL buyout (PAIN long term)… He's been terrible. I'm off to get sick now… Oh well. Canucks have now entered the Maple Leaves Zone, with the 3rd management team in a row that's completely useless – never to see a Stanley Cup in my lifetime.

  2. He has the defensive fundamentals by all accounts and untapped offensive upside. Perfect. He also has a solid frame to grow into. He's 18. At 11, they weren't going to get an NHL ready player with that kind of upside. I know a lot of people wanted Benson, but if we've learned anything, in some cases, size doesn't matter in terms of whether or not a player will make an impact in the NHL. You can be smaller, and end up being Cole Caufield or you could just as easily be Jordan Schroeder. When guys are 2-3 years from making it to the NHL, it's hard to project. Sure, Willander could be a top 4 defenseman, or he could be stuck at the AHL level and not able to make the next step. You just don't know. You can tell a lot from the interview, but even that isn't conclusive, because a player can grow up a lot between 18 and 20 and suddenly something clicks and they're off to the races. Or maybe it doesn't. You just don't know. Having him at Boston College is probably a good thing, since it's a good hockey program and closer to Vancouver than Sweden. Time will tell.

  3. He might not have been the best player available but big right shot defensman are more valuable then wingers. He took the most valuable player.

  4. The lack of Canadian players on the Canucks roster, and in their prospect pool is quite concerning. It’s getting to the point of not even worth watching. Year in and year out this team passes up on players right in their own back yard. They’ve assembled a bath house there, and then wonder why they always suck!
