Would've taken the Russian goalie years into his development…whom pkayed well in the world juniors.
I really hope this is fake news…
people forget about dustin wolf…..yikes….
Reverse the question. Why Trotz would offer this for the 5th pick? Probably the Preds selection would have been Reinbacher too at 5th. So it means the value of the kid. You don't have that quality after the 10th even though it looks impressive as offer, is is not in the long run. If Hughes wants Askarov, he'll have him for cheaper
If this is true, it makes you wonder who the Preds had their sights on to be drafted as the 5th overall if Canadiens accepted the trade. Reinbacher as well or a crazy gamble to try and get Michkov before he was taken?
Hmmm…Askarov, pelikka at 15 Ritchie at 24…. seems like a big haul for #5
If this is true, Hughes should be fired immediately. Reinbacher is not top 5 caliber. Goaltender is an area Montreal needs and the draft was so deep that both the 15 and the 24OA picks would be just as good if not better than Reinbacher.
it was contingent on a center smith or carlson being available, they werent
such dumb click bait. the trade could have been contingent on Will Smith being available. just stop already
pretty good offer by the preds
Very disspointing in Hughes.
this tells me that askarov is a problem….trust in trotz
The Preds wanted Michkov, a potential superstar can't blame them for that. Instead we picked a potential second pair defenseman just like the big forward who can't skate with his head up last year and KK before that. Is Bergy still making the picks?
No way , for a goalie .. heck I'll take my chances in drafting one in the late rounds of the draft, exactly like the Montreal Canadians did , no brainer kent Hughes is right on …
kinda what management were thinking… there was a big drop off from forwards if we had went Leno.. they weren’t taking michkov for a multitude of reasons…aside from the actual player he’s signed for 3 more years and you have no control over his development or rights… meaning he’s not getting enogh ice time, there’s nothing you can do , you want to work with him in different areas, nothing u can do, he gets traded to another team and gets sent down.. etc.. you can’t even get him in your rookie/devlopmeant camps….he’s got the offensive skill but hoenslty they looked at him and as a sub 5’9 one dimensional winger that’s not the best skater and doesn’t rlly project many of the qualities teams at looking for in a complete player… there’s absolutely no gurantee that when he comes over he’s going to be this two way 90-100 point winger that the media and everyone assumes he will be… I rlly think it’s going to take alot for him to get to that caliber, strictly because he’s not 6,3 220 and a complete beast like ov was and a guy like kaprizov came into the nhl at 25-26 and played a much more explosive style of game…I think it’s crazy to assume he’ll step into the nhl and be 100 point player… a lot of people around the nhl project him closer to a taresanko which I totally see… with everything going on in Russia and it was also reported his dad tried to get him out of his contract early and we all know how terrible that situation was.. messed up world… it’s a rlly uncertain and unknown situation, are system is so loaded and we have so many studs that are under 24 including Suzuki cauf + blue chip prospects… we’re not like Philly… we were in no position to make this gamble at 5 in pivotal year of rebuilding, when they had a chance to add this crafty, long rangy defecman who is head and shoulders the best dman of this class and wasent getting past zona … I also think they believe in Hughs ability to add via free agency or trade 1 or 2 more high end forwards with experience to Insolate these young forwards and fill out are top 9 rather than having to look for that calibre dman down the line… Huston and reinbacher will step in and solidify a loaded blueline as we start contending.. the more I look into reinbacher the more I’m impressed… The more I watch this kid the way he skates and sees the ice he’s got that little mans handle in a big rangy defenceman…he could be that type of player back there we need so desperately.. filling that now is calculated long term play… People are frustrated we missed out on that top 4 , who look like they can be elite type of forwards but with there was a bug drop off in forwards if we had went Leno .. where we were sitting at 5 this was a great pick
I’d absolutely take that trade!
