I don’t understand how Toronto has like 4 players making 10 mill and we struggle with 1 player making 10 and a bunch of underpaid contracts.
backchecklund
That doesn’t even include Oesterle

This is exactly why i wasnt sad to see treliving go

An absolute mess
we have 4 rookies and a D-man making minimum, a 3rd line 30 point winger making 5 mill, a career ~0.85ppg player making 10.5 mill, a 2c making 7mill, and a career .909 starter making 6mill

If we don’t trade anyone else then I reckon we make playoffs with this lineup. This team is a perfect Jekyll and Hyde. Their underperforming regular season is usually followed up by an overperforming one. There is no middle ground.

Dube is gonna break out this year. I can feel it in ma bones

Gotta move Vladar for a draft pick or AHL prospect and slot Wolf in. Frees up over $1M
Honestly, let’s go with this roster. The young guys are going to get a very, very real shot and the bounce back candidates are being given a great opportunity to show us.

If we could move him (we likely can’t) it would be good to move on from Coleman.

Not worried. If one or more of Lindholm, Backlund, Vladar, and Hanifin are moved then there’s some breathing room. Assume some money comes back or gets eaten by promotions. Cap goes up next couple years. It hamstrung them for free agency this year but I don’t think anyone was expecting Conroy to make a splash and many of us are happy to see he didn’t make any big signings.
The team is actually very well-positioned to re-tool or rebuild, it’s just a matter of if Conroy can land the plane or not.

Trading Vladar and Hanifin would free this up. I think whichever team loses out on Karlsson might come looking for Hanifin

Bout to clear 4.5 mill from Tanev, just saw him at Pearson airport, Tanev to Toronto confirmed /s

I’m not gonna lie I kind of love this lineup
SomeJerkOddball
There’s nothing wrong with that lineup. The trouble is the short shelf life on account of the expiring contracts.

I don’t play armchair gm very often, but I would try to package Markstom and Backlund or Coleman with some salary retained.
