  1. If anyone wants an explanation kinda what management were thinking… there was a big drop off from forwards if we had went Leno.. they weren’t taking michkov for a multitude of reasons…aside from the actual player he’s signed for 3 more years and you have no control over his development or rights… meaning he’s not getting enogh ice time, there’s nothing you can do , you want to work with him in different areas, nothing u can do, he gets traded to another team and gets sent down.. etc.. you can’t even get him in your rookie/devlopmeant camps….he’s got the offensive skill but hoenslty they looked at him and as a sub 5’9 one dimensional winger that’s not the best skater and doesn’t rlly project many of the qualities teams at looking for in a complete player… there’s absolutely no gurantee that when he comes over he’s going to be this two way 90-100 point winger that the media and everyone assumes he will be… I rlly think it’s going to take alot for him to get to that caliber, strictly because he’s not 6,3 220 and a complete beast like ov was and a guy like kaprizov came into the nhl at 25-26 and played a much more explosive style of game…I think it’s crazy to assume he’ll step into the nhl and be 100 point player… a lot of people around the nhl project him closer to a taresanko which I totally see… with everything going on in Russia and it was also reported his dad tried to get him out of his contract early and we all know how terrible that situation was.. messed up world… it’s a rlly uncertain and unknown situation, are system is so loaded and we have so many studs that are under 24 including Suzuki cauf + blue chip prospects… we’re not like Philly… we were in no position to make this gamble at 5 in pivotal year of rebuilding, when they had a chance to add this crafty, long rangy defecman who is head and shoulders the best dman of this class and wasent getting past zona … I also think they believe in Hughs ability to add via free agency or trade 1 or 2 more high end forwards with experience to Insolate these young forwards and fill out are top 9 rather than having to look for that calibre dman down the line… Huston and reinbacher will step in and solidify a loaded blueline as we start contending.. the more I look into reinbacher the more I’m impressed… The more I watch this kid the way he skates and sees the ice he’s got that little mans handle in a big rangy defenceman…he could be that type of player back there we need so desperately.. filling that now is calculated long term play… People are frustrated we missed out on that top 4 , who look like they can be elite type of forwards but with there was a bug drop off in forwards if we had went Leno .. where we were sitting at 5 this was a great pick

  2. Well said! No habs fan was more upset than i was with the selection. BUT dont blame the player. He is a good kid, a good player, i see him similar to jeff petry. I get it we are starving for goal scorers and no doubt Michkov will be a 40 goal guy and ryan leonard i think will be consistently good for 30 G. Blame the management if you want. But lets give this kid a chance.

  3. All teams have a small minority of "fans" who obviously have a psychological problem and project their personal mediocrities onto the players. There's one team that is worse than the others for producing fans with deviant behavior. It's not the Montreal team. Polls across the league have shown that it's an old Ontario team. Supporters of this team pollute social networks more than others. In light of these facts I ask the following question:
👉🏻 The cowards who harassed Reinbacher, were they all Habs fans?

  4. I wanted a forward myself but am completely behind this young player now after seeing the character and grace with which he's carried himself. There's no excuse for any abuse he received although I also think the media may have blown it out of proportion. Almost all the sentiment I've seen since is very supportive, and let's not forget when all is said and done he has the chance to become an elite right shot D in the NHL.

  5. We don't have a choice in wishing him well, he is a 5th OV pick. They weren't going to pick Michkov and all the gm's knew it and played hardball. Whenever a team struggles the easy solution is add a defenseman, it's been the team strategy for decades and here we are. Florian Xhekaj and three goaltenders feels amateurish,

  6. Welcome to the Habs team David, you will succeed for sure. And shut a few bad mouths out there, especially reporters who didn't agree with the pick. But now they are changing their minds and finding out good things about David. Anyway he was in the top 5!!! rated by a few well renowned scouts..

  7. Worst for me is giving up a first round and high second round pick for 5’10” questionable player…very disappointing

  8. I am the 1st to say I wanted more from #5, #31, #37. I am disappointed in Hughes.5th overall pick is one you would like to say is ready now. But Reinbacher looks awesome. His presser shows a guy impossible not to hope for. He's big enough to handle the physical part. In cap era it is important to get cheap rookie contracts in the line-up. If that happens it is a great pick. I am also not buying into the BS about Hab fans bashing him on social media. I am on Habs social media sites daily. We have more Hab haters than fans a lot of the time. It is unlike any other team. Is it hate for Francophones that inspires the trolls? Maybe in part. Don't spread the BS… David is ours and he is already a loved family member. His first step on the ice in front of Habs fans will end all discussion of upset fans.

  9. Mesar should play in Laval. We really need to see how he can play against men.

  10. Yes, xhekaj at 4th round is absurd. I lost confidence with hughes at that point because it’s irresponsible

  11. Top defenseman almost never gets traded… you draft em… and as of now they got none… and they take time to arrive… and if you load your offense first you will not have the drat position to get em… just look at toronto

  12. They didnt want michkov and the best prospect after him idc what anyone says is reinbacher. Even then reinbacher might make a bigger difference than michkov on this roster for a cup win not reg season wins! We also need a guy like that for hutson

  13. Rantannen: 50 goal scorer, drafted #10 overall. Barring a surprise, we will not have such a guy for years. Think they want to have Suzuki at #1 and make team it as solid as possible around him… instead of having a superstar forward

  14. Montreal did awesome overall. And i can see Montreal next year drafting nothing but Canadians to become Canadiens lol . Big powerforward like individuals that do it all with heart and soul . Troopers. Cannot wait for next year's draft and then we have the last pieces to go forward and contend for Lord Stanley 💪😎👍

  15. Drew you’re calling the habs fans who had issue with Reinbacher stupid but we all see your reaction buddy, left the room? Marinaro’s reaction was shameful too

  16. I’m sold on the fact that Kent Hughes was going to pick between Will Smith and David Reinbacher.

  17. Would like to see Slaf get some good ice time playing with his friend in Laval. As A lifetime fan at the age of 51. This is the first time I've ever really felt they are really building toward something special. These last couple seasons. Ever since we picked up Suzuki. Lucked out with Caufield. And been just building up the draft pool since.

  18. How come the strong criticisms of the Reinbacher pick but they forget how deep the Canadiens are on the wing, Caufield, Slafkofsky, Mesar, Farrell, Roy, Newhook, Rohrer and at centre, some who will play the wing Dach, Beck, Kidney, Kapanen, Davidson.
