Yea… Hughes-Willander is gonna be sick in a few years.

I don’t know, something feels right about this guy. I’m really excited. High high character guy and just look at his highlights, he’s like a Quinn Hughes light with a physical aspect. Good pick Canucks

His skating is going to give him a solid floor in the NHL. Not many 6’1 right handed defenders skating like him in the league.

His skating and profile reminds me of Dan Hamhuis, which would be the perfect complimentary player to Quinn Hughes

PUCKS TO THE NET! Coaches are gonna love this guy.

Willander was not on my radar until a few weeks before the draft. And it’s thanks to this sub really. I’m hopeful, stoked for this pick. The more I find out about him the more I like.

Kid is build like a man, and plays with poise and confidence.

He seems to toy with smaller players, easily pushing them off the puck. He doesn’t seem to have the “mean streak” in the sense that yeah he’ll give an extra shot if you chirp him but he’s constantly concerned with maintaining control of the play.

I’ve been wrong before, but this guy seems like a top 4 guy especially after seeing him skate yesterday. It would be, unexpected to see him turn out any worse in the years to come. Solid pick. Maybe not the best player at 11, but certainly the best D.

The more I see if him the more I love the pick. He looks like he’s going to be a huge bitch to play against. His board play looks outstanding, and he is very effective at taking his man out of the play with good hits or pins. He’s also very active in harassing people around the net with stickwork or shoves. He’s probably going to take a bunch of penalties, especially at the start, but it’s a good price to pay for how much he’s going to piss off the other team. He can probably goad them into taking retaliation penalties too. He plays with an edge, but he does it smartly. His IQ looks top notch, and because of that I have a hard time believing that his offense won’t come. But since he’ll be playing with Hughes, he’s going to get points that way regardless.

One of the things I really like about his game, and what I think highlights his defensive smarts, is his play without the puck during a breakout. He can do it himself, of course, but he is also great at supporting his teammates when they carry the puck. He’s either always making himself an option to receive a pass in safe ice, or he’s running just enough subtle interference against a forechecker to cut them off from the puck carrier. When he does things like that, it honestly makes me imagine a Sedin that can skate like the wind. A player like that is a 2D at minimum.
