2023 NHL Draft Prospect Preview: David Edstrom

David Edstrom, C, Frolunda Jr. (SWE-JR): Adding young skill in the middle could be the best option for the Rangers at this point, with Mika Zibanejad at age 30 and Vincent Trocheck turning 30 before next season starts. Edstrom (6-3, 185) is a smart player with great size who averaged a point per game (28 points in 28 games) in Sweden’s junior league. Check out our entire NHL Draft preview episode! The Rangers currently own 5 draft picks and the number 23 overall pick. Who are some of the players they could target in the first round? Who are some sleeper picks? NHL Draft experts Adam Kimelman and Byron Bader have you covered. Adam has joined the show 3 straight years now to help preview the draft. The NHL.com draft expert and host of NHL’s Draft Class podcast nailed the Brennan Othmann selection in 2021 and is looking to repeat his performance this year. Byron makes his second appearance on the podcast. The creator of hockeyprospecting.com and an NHL draft consultant Byron uses player comparison models to gauge the future performance of prospects. Both guests are a wealth of draft knowledge, and we discuss 30-40 prospects in this year’s draft!
