Trade Nylander to Det for a high pick . then send Murray to Ana for a bag of pucks
I'm becoming a Treliving fan! Just imagine if he's able to pull off a sign & trade with Nylander…
We could have a lineup that looks something like this:
Ln.1: Bertuzzi – Matthews – Marner
Ln.2: Tavares – Domi – (Knies / Jarnkrok / Robertson)
Ln.3: (Jarnkrok / Robertson) – Kampf – Lafferty
Ln.4: (Robertson / Knies) – Holmburg – Reaves
Def.1: Rielly – Klingberg
Def.2: McCabe – Brody
Def.3: Giordano – Liljegren
G: Samsonov + Woll
***AND HERE"S THE BEST PART… Treliving flips Nylander to another team for something like:
* Cap space! Or…
* A bonafied young winger / prospect! Or…
* A top end shutdown d-man! Or…
* A long-term contract with Bertuzzi and/or Domi! Or…
* Draft picks (remember when Toronto used to have those, and they turned into players like Rielly & Marner?!) Or…
* A legitimate #1 goalie prospect (remember when Toronto used to have goalie prospects?!) Or…
* Any combination of the above!
I don't know how to fully express this in words…but we'd actually have a team we can be PROUD of! We'd return to the era of players like Gilmour, Clark, Sundin, (Tie) Domi, Muller…etc…it be heaven on earth once again have superstar players who actually cared enough to work hard in the playoffs, to not give up, and to not run off on millionaire vacations the moment they were eliminated from the playoffs. Brad Treliving could be the next Cliff Fletcher who saves this franchise!!!

The Adin Hill comparison is not a good one. Hill hasn't played more than 27 regular season games in a season. Even though he had a great playoff, he's still incredibly unproven. It'll be interesting who they deal , because I don't think they're done.

Paid way to much for aging reaves. Dudes 36.. and I guarantee he won’t nearly be played as much as some may think he will. Really don’t think he was worth that kind of money

You don't have enough money. Sign and trade, Nylander for Konecny straight up, Philadelphia retains half. Flyers get the slightly better player, Leafs get the much cheaper player.

Tavares Tavares Tavares .One of my favourite players but he is the problem is had aged and is just too slow now to play on the top 2 lines and even as a 3rd line center he is too slow He had a huge cap hit and for his salary they could get a much faster and tougher center and an actual number 2 or 2 D nan.Befire Toronto does anything else they need to sit down with him and say look this isn't working .He would still contribute on lesser teams as he is still a point a game player but come playoff time it's painful to watch him play .
I would still like the Leafs to upgrade the depth on the LW side. Expecially if they plan on rolling with Domi as 3C.
Perhaps they could convince Tyler Motte to come in at 1 year prove it deal at 1.25M it would still work with a 20 man roster which isnt ideal but it could work.
Or perhaps The leafs could go out into the trade market and aquire some grit on the 3 or 4LW position. Perhaps even a Scott Laughton move with retained Salary.
Scott Laughton plus 50% retained. for Calle Jarnkrok, Robertson and a 1st in 2024 woud be nice.

Motte-Kampf-Reeves now that would be a silly forward lineup. Grit on every single line. with Sammy at 3M, Lughton at 1.5M and Motte at 1.25 that would till leave 1.3M to carry an extra forward or defencman or upgrade the blueline.
