  1. The Red Wings have too many players. They have to reduce the roster. I was hoping they could trade him. He could end up in Grand Rapids. Yzerman has gotten better players than Zedina through waivers and played with GR. From GR he can work on his game. And hopefully work his way back to the NHL.

  2. Zadina is done in a Wings uniform. He can not stay healthy only playing a high of 74 games in 2021-22. He was only available for 55% of the games from 2019 to 2023. His production offensively and defensively left a lot to be desired. It is for the best Detroit letโ€™s him go, the wings have young hungrier prospects they can call up to replace him. At this point he was on Detroitโ€™s 4th line best for them to waive him.

  3. The yzerclown had so many chances to trade him for an asset but of course he just ends up getting rid of him for nothing. Fire yzerman

  4. Zadina was one of the last draft picks by Ken Holland – Not an Yzerman guy. I had hopes he MIGHT turn into a SY player, but it did not turn out that way. It looks like Stevie is making some of the last house cleaning to get only his guys on the team. Yzerman values gritty two-way play more than flashy goal scoring. Unfortunately Zadina is just a pure goal scorer who never learned the defensive side of things & never found a place on a team that has no room for such players. That might be why Detroit might not agree to a Debrincat trade – we want goal scorers who play defense.

  5. I was wondering what what was gonna happen to Zadina, with Ficher coming in, cause he does everything Filip does with a slightly better offensive upside and just as good defensive

  6. Go over his career stat sheet again. That ONE year. That DRAFT year. That was the one year that he had an outstanding year. Prior to that he was just an average player thru his junior years. Holland fell for the draft year breakout season just like he falls for the contract year breakout seasons. Typical typical Ken Holland. He did it again most recently with Kailer Yamamoto. Dude had a breakout contract year and Holland threw 3.1 million at him then gave him to Detroit one year later to dump salary. It was obvious his second year on the team that Zadina wasn't going to amount to much and should have been traded then. Yzerman gave Zadina way too many chances. That's a bad on Yzerman's part. Earlier on we may have gotten a third pick for Zadina. Now we give him away. You know it's bad when even Holland the hording trash collector isn't trying to get Zadina back.

  7. I wouldn't be surprise if the Habs take him if he's still around when their turn comes. Hughes has been jumping on all first round flop with potential that he sees so far. Zadina is still pretty young.

  8. The title is fine, your reading comprehension on the other hand….

It means Zadina had strong underlying metrics in a small sample size, but his offense just isn't there. He plays the game fairly well, but his separating skill (goal-scoring) is no longer a factor.

  9. I remember when that kid said he was gonna make Montreal regret passing on him at the draft. Now he's being waived… Karma. Arizona might pick him up, they love projects.

  10. This is shocking but not shocking ๐Ÿ˜ฒ.. I mean you can say you were rooting for him but Zadina had MORE than enough time to get it together, and different coaches to help along the way.. See, another can Holland player out the door.. a lot of his players just wasn't hitting enough for Stevie.. they're known streaky, heart/ toughness issues and just banishes for long periods of time throughout the seasons.. Larkin and Rass are the only players that are left from the Holland area that is worth keeping.. and that's why they're still here!..
This should just tell you how many winnable acquisitions Kenny boi actually had.. it's sad, that's a terrible percentage!..

THAT'S CRAZY TO THINK THERE'S ONLY TWO PLAYERS FROM THE HOLLAND ERA THAT'S STILL HERE!

    Stevie's doing his thing!๐Ÿค™

  11. Final thought: Zadina is and can be a fine 4th line player on any team in the league if he is paid accordingly at league minimum $775,000.00

  12. The nucks should get him, but they're up against the cap. I remember him playing in the junior tournaments and thinking he's going to be a 30-goal scorer in the NHL. So far, it doesn't look like he has that next level of compete that you need in the big leagues.

  13. But he was suppose to be the key piece that Ottawa definitely needed to take in any DeBrincat trade!? Ottawa fans were suppose to be excited to get this guy. LoL

  14. Nucks should give him a shot. He was the reason we got Hughes in the first place. Lol

  15. He got chances, rarely ever could he finish. Turns out that there were reasons he dropped to the wings at 6. Good luck to him, hopefully, heโ€™ll get another chance and come ready to play.

  16. After this latest draft and now free agency the Red Wings are absolutely stacked with options at every position and it is hard to cut it in that kind of situation. Many more talented players on our roster or in our farm system are going to end up elsewhere because of this, and it really isn't about the player but more about where they fit in for what we are trying to do which is build a team that can compete year after year. Steve Yzerman is doing what he thinks is best for the team and I trust him to do whatever is necessary to make it happen here in Detroit again. Trust the Yzerplan because if you are a diehard Wings fan you have seen how he has improved this team since he took over. It will only get better from this point on.

  17. Just watched stevies press confrence, supposedly zadina asked to be put on waivers to try and get a fresh start with a new team, if he clears he will still be a wing this year if he can earn himself a spot in the lineup

  18. Remember when Habs fans were going crazy because we didn't draft him. Maybe that's a good sign for Reinbacher ๐Ÿคท

  19. As a wings fan, the fact that we could have had Quinn Hughes instead of Zadina will haunt me for a while

  20. i wouldnt be surprised if the habs pick him up XD they have a reputation to grab โ€œfailedโ€ top picks

  21. Him getting placed on waivers means he was untradable at the draft. No one even want to throw a 7th round pick for him. Some players just doesn't work out.
