  1. I'm glad we didn't sell the farm for the privilege of paying Dubois $8.5 million per year.

  2. It's not enough to have speed, you need to use it effectively. I don't know if Marty was taking notes on Dallas in the playoffs, the habs with Newhook and hopefully Leonard will have 4 or 5 players who can be used on rush offense and get 30 or 40 goals / season each. I hope he was taking notes.

  3. Fleeced again by Colorado they get two good picks to rebuild their farm system and build for another Cup run something the Habs should be doing at this stage of the rebuild instead they opted for another undersized player very disappointing.

  4. Too much imho. Maybe ONE of these 2 drafts + a fourth or something. Not 2 picks that would have been in the middle of the first round in almost any other draft year.

Now even if Michkov is someone available, they will make the mistake of drafting by position instead of best available, by picking a big guy instead. Not only that, we probably could have got an insanely good goalie with our 3rd pick. There was the potential to add 4 roaster players from this draft if picked and developed correctly (the Bolts showed how it is possible).

  5. Tooo much. The 30th ok, but the 37th with that… hummmmm, maybe the 3rd round pick but the second round, naaaa…

  6. Overpayment for a Smurf. The Exact thing rhe Habs did Not need any more of.

  7. Even though he may be a good player, the team is looking for one-dimensional, average height possible can score, but the team is not big and zero toughness. We need bigger players.

  8. Good breakdown of the trade. Wondering what the plan is contract-wise – that's a lot of youth to pay at around the same time. Newhook and Harvey-Pinard are RFAs now, Barron and Xhekaj will be RFAs next year, and then Slaf, Harris and Guhle will be RFAs in two years. And that's on top of those long, big contracts to Suzuki, Caufield, Gallagher, Anderson, and medium contracts to Dach and Matheson. Something's going to have to give. Anyway, see you in the draft live stream!

  9. 1st and 2bd round picks for Newhook. In this draft you can find NHL ready players that will give you what Newhook gives you for way less money. Newhook was very disappointing in CO even after he was given all the opportunities in 2023 with our line up being wide open. Newhook showed nothing that would suggest he's gonna be a top 6 player.

  10. A very interesting deal from yesterday. I trust in Kent H, knowing his club best, and knowing his coach's style, and what type of player excels under him. I was kind of hoping we would have that late first rounder and early second rounder, especially in a draft this deep. Given the Newhook trade, I am now on the side of trading the 5th pick to Philadelphia for their 7th and 22nd first round picks, if it is available. I am hoping for Ryan Leonard at 7th, and whatever is good at 22nd, take it. Although David Reinbacher is a significant D talent, I feel a pick of him is like reacquiring Alexander Romanov, but with a right-handed shot.

  11. Another small Player – go thru the inventory… Gallagher. Caulfield even Suzuki is small… now Newhook – we got Sean Farrel ? Lane Hudson… they needed Dubois.. wrong pick up , I see this as a reaction to not able to pick up Solid players…. Team will gets fans clapping – but i dont see them making it thru the playoffs witch such a small team.. yes Gallager wont be around? when they do.. but still – take the prospects and package them up for "deeper" talent .. move up in the draft ..etc this team is starting to look like Gainey's – Cammalleri /Gomez era…

  12. I think Newhook has potential to be a solid 2nd line guy, but that is a lot to give up in a super deep draft.

  13. I think it's a great deal. We're getting a young, speedy forward with NHL experience and a "Cup" for 2 draft picks that won't materialize for a couple of seasons anyway. Yes It's steep but I think it's worth it.

  14. Not a good deal. We needed to trade aging and unproductive expensive assets like Edmondson, Savard, Hoffman, Armia, Divorak and possibly Allen. I would rather have Nadeau(i'm sayng a star in the future) and But over Newhook.

  15. I have mixed feelings. On one hand, we got an NHLer with upsides, but on the other hand, we paid a steep price to acquire a small forward that averages 30 pts/season. Newhook "could" explode in Mtl and the 2 draft picks "could" never make it to the NHL or Newhook could remain a bottom 6 and the 2 draft could turn into a Debrincat value. I guess at the end of the day, trades and picks are like going to the casino. Throw the dices and hope for the best.

  16. Alex Newhook new career high 50 points
Watch Mtl aquire Philadelphia 7th and 20th pick for our 5th.
    Ryan Leonard
    Quinton Musty
