Hmmm They did not address what cost them in the playoffs! Did not add any players with toughness, shot blocking skill or any hard hitting defensemen! They will get thrown around like rag dolls again come playoff time!
CMON Fitzy, NJ still needs another legit goalie in here. With Daws hurt , NJ STILL NEEDS to get a legit NHL caliber quality goalie. This AHL guy from Toronto isn't the "answer." Every single season as of late, NJ makes blunders in net….if they can just get average to dare, I say elite goaltending they will be immediate Stanley Cup favorites. Running it back with the same hoping for better would be an enormous mistake. As was Crawford, as was Bernier, as was gIving Wedgewood away for nothing , as was continuing to run out Blackwood…..
Toffoli is a poor man's Meier – a great addition. Re-signing McLeod and Bastian was important and well-done. Combining McLeod and Bastian with Lazar makes a great 4th line after the THREE scoring lines. Clearly Severson and Graves were both too expensive to re-sign and both Hughes and Nemec needed roster space anyway. The great development of Bahl last season (and hopefully more this year) and the addition of Miller make a really nice D-corps. I think Fitzy is doing a stellar job managing the cap space and adding talent – especially when you see some of the other "terrible" contracts that were signed in the past few days.
