According to this article from an Ottawa beat reporter, the contract is what is holding this up. He mentions the Ducks and Isles as two teams that remain interested. No other teams mentioned specifically

8×8 will be tough for us to pull off. Would have to be Pageau and probably Palms going the other way to make the money work…not that I’m against it, but can’t see Ottawa agreeing to that either.

It is funny to see that they compared Debrincat’s 26 goals to Meier’s 40 to make the money comparison sound ludicrous, but they had the same amount of total points. They are also pretty even career wise, Debrincat might even have the slight edge.

Wonder if Lou can convince him to take a bridge contract until cap increases.

Just a funny little side note: There is barely any talk about Debrincat on the Ducks subreddit, like one article from 2 days ago. Also, the top post there is their proposed package : Henrique a second, and a third lol. We are willing to give up Pageau, Wahlstrom and a first for this guy it seems like

The fact that Debrincat’s team is essentially negotiating through the media at this point, and the Isles are still in, shows you how badly Lou wants this guy. He usually doesn’t like playing these games

It would be a radical move but trading Lee and waiving Johnston would clear out 8 mil

Is it confirmed that $8m gets it done? Moving Pageau and Whalstrom gets you $6 of that. So where do we get the other $2? Clutter? Martin? Palms?

I said earlier we can do Pageau and Engvall and be done with this drama
