It's simple, miles wood stands in front of the net and is really hard to move. He's very competitive there. He can also skate in straight lines really fast to forcheck and retrieve pucks. The best 3rd and 4th lines in the NHL score goals most often from being dirty, mucky, and grindy in front of the net and banging pucks home. Wood and Colton together on a 3rd line makes that type of scoring much more viable for colorado. In truth that's the type of depth goal scoring colorado needed last season. Easy no nonsense competative goals in front of the net.
