Padres’ Wil Myers Strikes Out On 3 Balls (UMPIRE POWER TRIP!)

Umpire Doug Eddings goes on a huge power trip against the San Diego Padres and keeps making horrible calls. Fernando Tatis Jr, Tommy Pham, Wil Myers, and Ha-Seong Kim all fall to terrible strike calls in a 2 inning rampage. It even ends up with ejections for Tommy Pham and Padres Associate Manager Skip Schumaker. I’ve never seen an umpire just be this horrible in a long time and it really is forcing the push for Robo-Umps or a challenge/oversight system DURING a game!

I really enjoy doing recaps of stuff like this and interacting with all of you. Let me know if there's something you'd like me to recap.

  2. How about give the umps cellphones that do the trax for you? Half the people in the stadium are already doing that! Hell, people who aren't even at the game are doing that!

  3. Whom ever posted this video is a dumbass, robot umpiring would ruin the game. Bad umpiring has been happening for 130 yrs.
    Part of the game

  4. Doug Eddings has a history of getting triggered into these power trips. Pretty thin-skinned for an umpire.

  5. I was watching this game live I couldn’t believe what I was seeing I figured the ump bet on that game lol

  6. That pitch at 1:08 was a strike. It is not where the catcher catches the ball. The graph showed where it was caught. It is where it crosses the plate. If it catches any part of the plate it is a strike end of story. With that said this ump was horrible

  7. It's called the human element. People get things wrong sometimes. The "robo call" is being tried in some minor leagues. I saw a pitch a couple weeks ago that was about two feet outside but robo called it a strike. If you want perfection – flip coins. Even then there will be people saying the coin wasn't flipped right.

  8. Armchair umpires never understand that the box on your screen IS NOT the strike zone. The strike zone is over the plate (any part of the ball at any point in the pitch) from between the hollow under the kneecap TO a point midway between the belt and the top of the shoulders. Its different on everyone. That pitch circle is a 2D representation of a 3D Strike zone, its meaningless.

  9. That many bad calls in a game should result in immediate firing of the umpire – or at least a suspension and mandatory drug testing, physical, eye exam, and full financial audit.

  10. Doug eddings hates the Padres. This i'snt the first time eddings has made some bad calls against the Padres.

  11. He did it again vs the Padres this past Friday!!! This dude is fucking killing us. MLB umpires need to be treated like MLB players, you underperform, you get sent down or released!!

  12. This is the game my Padres started their collapse. And we never recovered from it…

  13. Mark grant is such a non bias commentator and calls it how it is so if he’s saying you’re horrible then that means you’re horrible.

  14. Every other sport in the world has technical review. Cricket has 2/3 teams reviews. Tennis has Hawkeye. Rugby has the 4th official and “try, yes or no”. Football has VAR.

Baseball has dicks that spoil a game.

  15. 17 blown calls? Try 26 in the blue jays vs white Sox game on June 22, 2022. Bad calls led to 2 runs added for the white sox in a game that the white Sox won 6-5. The blown calls were the difference. According to ump stats, it was the single worst umpiring game of the 2022 mlb season to that date. Doug Edding is a legend. But not in a good way.

  16. I cannot believe that inbred idiots like Doug Eddings, are not ordered out of their job by anyone with a stitch of integrity or a testicle. Eddings is as bad for the game as that Manfred idiot.

Since no apparent qualifications to be a commissioner , I'm applying for the job next time

  17. This was some awful umpiring. When I saw those bad calls against the Padres hitters, I was wondering if the Marlins hitters were getting the same calls. It appears that the Marlins hitters were not only not getting the same bad strike calls against them, but that pitches that should have been strokes were not strikes. I understand umpires are human and will miss some calls, but it typically evens out over the course of the game, and that wasn’t even close to being the case here. Padres got hosed. I don’t remember which game this was, but I do know the Padres really faded in the stretch run in 2021 and missed the playoffs by a few games.

  18. Umpires Union is just too strong and needs to be broken no matter what it takes. These guys are such prima donnas. Think back to when some umpires tendered their resignation, MLB called their Bluff and accepted them and what did the empires do? Went to court anyway to get their jobs back and lo and behold they got them back. I want umpires but they have way too much power and need to be knocked down. Their performance needs to be analyzed after each season and the ones who don't cut the mustard need to be sent back down just like a player would be

  19. Every one of these blown calls can also be attributed to one thing CATCHERS PULLING BALLS INTO THE ZONE. Baseball is the only game I know of where CHEATING is not only allowed, but rewarded.

  20. Robo umpire is nice, if you get the radar based one and not the crappy camera one. The main problem I see is the “oh it’s too late now I already called it”. They need a better review process for on the spot, specially home plate and someone standing by to overrule. Plate umpire always gets away with too much.

  21. nothing like an overweight guy on a power trip lol should make him do the truffle shuffle before every game

  22. One of these days I'd like to see the manager pull his team off the field. Let's see what the networks have to say when they have 2 hours of nothing.
