  1. Good video Kevin, hope all's well. Overall, very happy with what the Wings did the last couple days. They turned Hronek into a potentially better offensive d-man, maybe one of the best of the draft. Danielson I think could just be that solid center who doesn't wow you but does everything right. I like the trade for Kostin and Yamamoto, even if Kailer doesn't fit long term, I think they were definitely targeting Kostin. A- / high B+ draft this year. LGRW!

  2. The Wings need also to restock their lower tier teams in the organization as well as their team.

  3. Good video thanks. It's pretty obvious now that Yzerman is going to build the team correctly and unlike his predecessor in Edmonton will not get into cap space issues.

  4. Both Danielson and Sandin-Pelikka have sick sick hands and see the ice realy well, very god at evading pressure and keeping possession. As a Wings fan I'm very happy with these 1st round picks. Not seen the others but I trust Draper and co.

  5. Just to say that what a great job did reviewing my Red Wings. Seriously, really job sir! Thx for getting me up to speed.

  6. If you would say Detroit kept pace with up comers like Buffalo Ottawa or even NJ. It came in baby steps with this latest draft. Liked Danielson, loved ASP. Goalie? okay fine a local guy going to MSU.

Yet Detroit incredibly reached for defensemen in the second round. With their desperate need for scoring they ignored several available forwards for these larger stay at home defensemen who either skate horribly or have low hockey IQ. This was an offensively strong draft not known for defense.
Maybe SY is going defense first mentality since we can't win the draft lottery and that would explain this?

  7. I don't hate the Danielson pick but it feels like they played it safe with that pick. Danielson will likely be an NHLer but he could be a 2C/3C with limited offense. To me Benson would have been a better choice. Elite playmaker that can make other players better and solid 2 way player. Danielson (like Kasper) could be a solid player but i'm not sure just how much better they can make other players around them (kind of like Copp).

Axel Sandin Pellikka is a fine choice to me. Great skater, good offensive skills but i have never heard anyone say his defense is solid. To me a better comparable might be Erik Karlsson in the style they play and given they have similar size. Not saying he is the next Karlsson but they did have similar numbers in their draft year (actually ASP had a bit better stats).

2nd round i kind of get why the Wings drafted 2 RHD even though there was other forwards they could have taken. Wings prospect system was very thin with RHD (they have a crap load of LD) and decent RHD are almost as coveted as centers these days.

We'll see how things shake out. Even if i'm not always thrilled about who the Wings pick or sign as UFAs, i'm always willing to give them a chance to prove me wrong.

  8. I like the comment that Chris Draper said that when they interviewed Connor Bedard he named Nate as one of the toughest to play against. I liked the draft seemed to get a lot of good skilled and Character young men. The trade well 2 former 1st round picks for basically nothing seems like a win deal.

  9. Picks are nice but how long i he gonna keep kicking the can down the road without bringing in a legit 40 goal scorer…it takes 2 or 3 years to develop these players before they get called up if they ever do make the team..we haven't made the playoffs in 7 years and this is yzermans 5th year of rebuild how many more years of rebuild do we have to go through.we have plenty of cap money get a legit goal scorer

  10. The redwing organization proitized squeaking into the playoffs and getting eliminated in the first round over building for the future for 5 years or so. This is what happens when you delay a needed rebuild. Its going to take time.

  11. Yzerman’s draft wasn’t flashy, but it was solid and essential to the future of the franchise. A lot of armchair GMs are whining that Yzerman didn’t sell the farm for DeBrincat, but Yzerman was wise not to trade for him at this point, as Ottawa hasn’t even granted teams permission to talk to DeBrincat about contract extensions. Makes no sense to trade for a guy who has a history of wanting out of teams in both Chicago and now Ottawa. Our picks were smart and well calculated. Danielson is the type of forward we will need. Connor Bedard said that Danielson is the hardest player he has ever played against, so that speaks volumes. Plus, getting Kostin for essentially nothing, was huge for the team. Guaranteed he will be a fan favourite. I will be buying my Kostin jersey as soon as it’s announced what number he will wear (probably 21)
