Alright I’m definitely a bit more excited about this signing now that I’ve looked at him in more depth. Those possession numbers are great, if he can make a clean zone entry and then hold on he’s going to add some real legitimacy to the second line, it might even score! 5 years is probably too long but somewhere between years 2-3, I’ll be expecting Danielson or Kasper to be pushing him down the lineup or out of it entirely. He’ll be 30-31 years old at that point and probably still capable of playing a solid defensive game while on the wing helping Danielson/Kasper adjust to center in the NHL.

This gets me excited. Every player says that talking with Yzerman is so convincing…if they believe in Yzerman – that means the team believes, and if everyone buys into the same mindset, well….we’ve seen what that can do

I think this is a perfect signing. He’ll be an incredible support for the prospects as they’re coming up.
