I’m not sure about actually better, I’ll leave that to someone else but Dallas and Edmonton are in this top 6 conversation IMO.

IDK who exactly will be in the Stars top 6 but we’re looking at Robertson, Hintz, Pavelski, Benn, Duchene, Marchment & Seguin.

EDM – Davo, Drai, Nuge, Hyms, Kaner & Brown.

Flip Marner and Willy. Domi isn’t a great defensive presence so having Marner there shores up that hole while Bertuzzi with Matthews and Nylander he takes the eyes off of the other two with his antics in order for Nylander and Matthews to do what they do best

  3. AnnyongHermanoMD

Nylander is going to get traded.

  4. worclax

Minus Nylander that’s 42 mil, good luck with that.

  5. Medium_Well

Leafs I think, though I suspect Matthew Knies might be playing on that 2nd line, not Domi.

  6. Mountain-Dingo7180

Toronto, but New Jersey if you include the bottom 6

  7. Complex-Tangerine628

NJ but that’s the best top 6 Toronto has had in a while

  8. DanTheMortgageMan

I’m going NJ. Especially when you consider Nylander is basically gone and add the bottom 6 and defense. I would be willing to bet NJ wins 2 cups before the Leafs even reach the ECF.

  9. StumptownRetro

Oilers, Stars, and probably Golden Knights when all is said and done.

  10. LittleLionMan82

Leafs have the most magical forwards: Nobody is better at disappearing come playoffs time.

If we are going by just the top 6, it’s Toronto by a very small margin. If we are going by overall depth upfront, it’s New Jersey.

With the Lightning ready to lose their spot in grace, I am wondering if the Devils will live up to their hype. Is this a team I should follow or will they be just as disappointing as the rangers and leafs?

  13. InsufferableLeafsFan

Domi isn’t going to be on the second line.

  14. cody-has93

Id say close to even but nylander is out so devils up big time.

  15. JustThatRandomKid

regular season? probably Toronto. playoffs? I think we know the answer

  16. DependentHalf5498

Ah, the elusive bottom 6, they’re our secret weapon, hidden for a reason! 😂

  17. LankyAd5469

Now let’s not forget about the ‘bottom 6’, they’re like hidden gems, waiting to shine! 😄

  18. HistorianMassive1111

This isn’t even a debate (this off-season), leaf’s by every metric available.

  19. CallMeBigFuzz

Who has a more expensive top 6 that hasn’t won anything?

  20. McJoe77

This isn’t really that close in my opinion. It’s also not Toronto’s problem. On pure talent, I’m not sure anyone’s top 6 is better than Toronto’s. It’s the other 6 forwards, 6 D, both goalies, and playoff disappearing acts that hold them back.

That said, I also really like the Devils. Getting Toffoli and getting McLeod and Bastian re-signed was a nice piece of business. Plus their D that’s already in place is good and they have arguably the best set of D prospects in the league. If they can get the goaltending they might be the best team in the East. They should trade for Hellebuyck in my opinion.

  21. solaireitoryhunter

Domi isn’t gonna be on the 2nd line

  22. DecisionGlittering

8 mil over Cap.. Who’s leaving is the better question?

  23. Saltfringecrust

Time for a playoffs round 2 win. Then let’s golf!

  24. hockeynoticehockey

    NJ

I like Domi but he’s not top 6, and neither of them have played for the Leafs yet, so who knows if they’ll even have chemistry.

  25. Due_Nefariousness999

The team they will lose to in the playoffs

  26. CarousersCorner

It’ll almost certain start with Knies over Domi in the top 6, but it’s definitely one of TO’s best top 6 groups they’ve had in a long time. It really all depends on whether or not Nylander gets signed or traded.

New Jersey is going to be a powerhouse soon. That team has been built so well. Get a top goalie between the pipes, and the sky’s the limit

  27. himynametopher

Leafs during the regular season. Devils in the playoffs.

*let’s have a shallow high-powered offense, and neglect our blue line and goalies* mantra has always been the proven track record to the cup, right?
