I'm still baffled as to why they would trade Klim Kostin.. 6'3, 215lbs, fights, hits hard, wtf? Maybe they thought they couldn't afford him? You don't trade a guy named Klim, you just don't…
Asking who "won" a trade is nonsensical. Trades don't happen unless both teams gain what they want.
In this trade, the Red Wings gained two good players, and the Oilers gained some relief from their salary cap issues. I hope that it works out well for both teams, as many trades do.
You can't have 6 players eat more than 50% of your salary cap, that's just crazy. Of those 6, Nurse (turnover machine), Kane (plays dumb, hurts team) and RNH (did he play in the playoffs), were all no shows against Vegas. You have about 45% of your cap left for the other 17 players on the current roster so now you have to salary dump. Typical Kenny Hollandaise.
Detroit is waiving Yamamoto so they traded for the RFA rights to Kostin I guess. Odd move by Detroit just to get Kostin’s rights to eat 500k dollars of dead cap of Yamamoto’s contract for the next two seasons.
Yamamoto Edmonton couldn't give him away. This won't cost the wings anything now or ever. Unless they buy him out.
It’s a risk free trial on two former first rounders… not a bad way to get some bodies who can help out now.
As a wings fan, I am beyond stoked that Yzerman got Klim! He also bought out Yamomoto, so basically, it was a win win for both GMs. Yzerman got the player he wanted and has the cap space to sign him. Holland got cap space he wanted, and buying out Yamomoto was the cost of doing business. $500K hit on Detroit’s cap for the next two seasons is peanuts for a team with $30M in space, and more next season.

Aww, well it's just a way for Kenny boi to look out for his old team and our Red Wings family still, cuz he has his new family, that's all 😂.. he's like the dad who never is home a lot to spend time with his kids but yet still sends us things in the mail and wire us money from time to time to remind us he still loves us 😘😭😭🤪😁😂

Klim Kostin should be a heck of a player if they get him to stay in Detroit. Never thought much of Kailer Yamamoto and I guess neither did Detroit as he is already gone after the trade. LOL!
