Not a Sens fan, but anyone who ever chastised Ottawa for low attendance, take a look at where there arena is. Middle of a field out in Kanata, ON (suburb of Ottawa). No subways link to it like say Toronto or Montréal. Pretty much every other home bar

I can see it being bad for attendance. However, I personally liked going to a game there. It was nice to not have to deal with a busy downtown after the game. Got to park pretty close to the arena as well.

Also remember the big employer here being the capital is the gov., they don’t buy tickets, so that’s huge. Private sector money is there but nowhere near Montreal or Toronto levels.

It’s a nightmare for Ottawa residence having to go from the chaotic parking lot to downtown it’s almost only traffic… it’s asking for more leafs fans at a game than Ottawa.. everyone know this is their biggest problem lol

This is (partly) similar to the Coyotes’ situation when they played at Glendale arena. Very nice arena, a good place to watch a game, but it was out in the suburbs and kind of a pain to get to.

PNC arena is also in the middle of nowhere, shit sucks

  6. DrSeuss19

Tough shit. No one cared that they coyotes rink was in the middle of nowhere

  7. JWHY1975

Florida has it the worst. The arena is on the edge of big cypress swamp. You have to pass through seven miles of suburbs at rush hour to get there.

Hey, at least they have plenty of space for tailgating and pre-game BBQs! 🍔🌭

Don’t make it out like this is poor them. They chose to build in Kanada expecting the area to boom. The gamble failed and now they have a shit location in a town that kills franchises.

Growing up west of the arena was pretty sweet. I’m not sure if I would have been as big a Sens fan if I didn’t see the arena on the way into town as much as I did growing up.

I mean, on the opposite side, I’ve dealt with going to rogers place in the middle of Edmonton and it was hell. As long as there is proper transit, I’d prefer this!

I have been to many games there as a leafs fan and I will tell you that the inconvenience is more than worth it to sit in a 90% leaf fan arena and dominate them in their own barn

As a tourist I’ve loved it driving into town, but one time I was staying downtown at a hotel and driving out to arena on game night sucked. So it seems decent for visitors but not locals.

I’m a Habs fan, but was born in Ottawa and have been to a few games there. I think seen you’ll see a new arena somewhere. I know the city council voted no to it, but I think a new arena is almost a given at this point… especially with the new ownership.

I’d go to way more Leafs games if I didn’t have to go all the f’in way downtown.

We went to Ottawa for a bachelor party and went to the game. We stayed in downtown Ottawa and thank god one of the guys took one for the team and drove. I checked Uber for the hell of it and it was $220!!! to get back to downtown.

Also zero restaurants around. Eat before you go. We ended up getting subs from the outlet mall food court.

  17. Rumour is the reason there is no subway link is because there is no subway in Ottawa.

Amaleia Arena is pretty much in the same boat lol

I travelled 6 hours to go see a game here. We booked a hotel just 700m away. Practically on the same corner as the arena. Just across the bridge which goes over the Highway. The intention was to save on parking, taxis, and be able to have some drinks at the game. Taxis from the Microtel hotel to CTC was $55 for a 2 minute ride. WTF.

Well look and behold not even the stupid shit bridge connecting the side where our hotel was to the arena had a sidewalk. Big signs saying no pedestrians, just a 2 way narrow bridge. Can’t walk there, taxi is charging a premium just to traverse the bridge. And they wonder why the fuck no body wants to go to their games.

I travelled 6 hours for a game. I was always pissed to hear people from Ottawa say the arena was too far for fans, but now I really get it.

Who’s idea was it to put a car traffic only bridge directly beside a stadium??

Hour to get In 2 hours to get out
    It’s fucking BS.

  21. Tbonetheman

Coming from Belleville I love this location lol. But can’t wait for a downtown rink!

  22. CheetyoGames

Even the Flames have transit to the arena and the city’s transit is dogshit

  23. Snow-Wraith

Funny, it seems pretty full when Montreal plays there.

  24. FewQuit32022

Traffic before and after a Sens game was a nightmare.
