Brodie looked a bit faded during the last stretch of regular season and the playoffs… But he’s been easily our most consistent defensive defenceman for the last few seasons. Not sure what we can get in return to make up for that.

Nicky Bobby, god bless him, can’t stay healthy so I say get what we can.

  2. Rowdy_Roddy96

I told so many that Brodie would be on the block and people didn’t believe me

  3. Samurai1221

Yeah, both make sense. I love brodie and his first seasons were outstanding. Looked absolutely exhausted late last year.

Still needing a big physical D and potentially a 3C with Domi/Laff being more wingers.

I really don’t think Robertson has much trade value at the moment and his cap-hit can just be sent down to the AHL but I guess you put it out there and maybe a team sees the value and giving him a fresh start.

Brodie makes sense trade wise though. Think many speculated it could be him. 1 Y left and showed some decline last season. If you brought in another D you had to open another spot for them anyways.

It’s almost like these “insiders” come to Reddit take the most common takes and try to report them to reality.

Now if there is a trade out there that legitimately makes us better for the same cap hit, yes you make the trade. But in regard to these 2 players I don’t think that happens.

Brodie at 5M is going to be our 1RD in what world do we find a player to fill that role taking less money and producing at the same defensive rate Brodie does?

As for Robertson, he is waiver exempt so there is absolutely no reason to trade him until that’s not the case any more. For years our LW depth has been atrocious and now that it’s finally bolstered people want to trade away the one offensively gifted LW depth piece we have.

If anyone gets moved to clear space (after Murray is moved) it should be Timmins or Lafferty (and even Lafferty I’m hesitant on).

I don’t really see the point in selling low on Robertson. There’s no way he holds much value at all. We know he’s got NHL talents in his game. Does this year not present a really good opportunity to snag a spot in the lineup at a low cap hit?

  7. EntryDiligent6908

Brodie has to absolutely hate Treliving

  8. A_Dehydrated_Walrus

Losing Brodie would be a bigger detriment to this team than most people realize.

Like… has Brodie really been that great for us? Sure I guess he doesn’t stand out as aggressively bad like Holl, but jeez, I NEVER noticed him on the ice at all. Maybe that’s a good and bad thing. I’d definitely like to get someone aboard who’s impact is more noticeable.

Trade Brodie + Murray + Robertson to Seattle for Jaycob Megna + our 3rd round pick back in 2024

Waive Megna and put him on Marlies for some size and experience

Seattle Gets Brodie to fill out their Defense + Robertson as sweetener to take Murray. They can either buyout Murray or waive him or have him sell popcorn in the stands.

Toronto Gets Cap space and the return of their 3rd round pick from the Giordano trade.

Yeah let’s just trade our best defensive defenseman. He consistently matches up against top competition, and it’s probably impossible to replace his role at his cap hit, but he doesn’t throw enough hits so fuck him.

  12. XPhazeX

I think Robertson is in a tough spot with this new look Leafs.

Hes going to want to be *more* physical and it hasn’t worked for him yet.

  13. leafsfan96

sign Klingberg for $.1, and then have to potentially move our best defensive D who make 5 seems like a big step back. They should’ve avoided signing Klingberg and ran with Timmins as a 3rd pair offense guy.

Nicky Bobby is tough. Kid has had consitent injury issues and I’m not sure that it’ll stop considering his style of play. He put up truely crazy goal number in the O and was on pace for 40 in the A. I hope if he’s moved he’s highly valued, he seems very boom or bust

  14. BirdGooch

I think I am firmly on the “Trade Nick” side of things but he can’t realistically hold much value right now. He has been absolutely destroyed in the big leagues and I am hoping he can redeem some of his value first.

  15. AhTreyYou

Losing Brodie would be a mistake. Unless you plan on upgrading from him but we have limited options with the cap. I can’t imagine Robertson would be worth much if anything either.

  16. Expire16

    Nylander
    Brodie
    Robertson
    Murray

    For

    Lindholm
    Tanev
    Zadorov

I don’t even know if the dollars work but what a swing that would be.

  17. Muellercleez

Has this guy ever reliably cracked real info or broken any real trades? Or does he just throw shit at the wall?

    I’m legit asking.

I seem to remember not too long ago when he was considered kind of a joke. But I have to concede things may have changed?

  18. SDAisaleaf

Trading Brodie would make tons of sense, trading Robertson would make none

  19. NervousBreakdown

How does trading robertson help the cap lolololol.

  20. DaltonFitz

I can’t see Robertson getting much of a return, and he’s likely at his lowest value he has ever been. We need all the low cap hits who can play, and we have seen he can play when healthy.

Unless you get a really good return(Which I can’t see any team doing, likely would just get a draft pick or a prospect with similar concerns), I don’t see much of a reason to trade him. I’d be more comfortable holding onto him and finding out it didn’t work out than I would be shipping him out for a 5th round pick, and having him possibly finally breakout with another club.

Presented by @betwaycanada tells me all I need to know

  22. comacove

how the hell is brodie in any trade rumours.

  23. Francis33

I’d love to offload Brodie if another top 4 d is coming the other way. Robertson you hold onto at all costs

  24. dolphin_spit

brodie is our best defenceman. period.

  25. CommandZ

Not fully on the offload Brodie train. But hypothetically if they were to trade Brodie (33) they could use his cap space to sign younger Dumba (28) on a prove it deal. Plays with more grit and aligns better with long term cap planning. Production might be a wash but could save team money on another deal.

  26. Human_Manner_3370

Surprised at both, to be honest. Brodie looked worn down in the playoffs, but he’s been our most consistent D-man. Robertson’s value is low right now, and I’d prefer to see what he can do if healthy.

  27. Tuor--Of--Gondolin

The stars will give yall one lightly used Esa Lindell to reunite the Robertson Brothers
