So he didnā€™t like our qualifying offer eh?

works out for the Leafs tbh, Sammy wants term, Leafs don’t and Arb gives him a 1-2 year contract I believe.

This was bound to happen. Hopefully, they land on a reasonable number that can work for the team, and at least leafs have the option of 1 or 2 years

  4. nomdreas

Sammy, please sign before the mean lawyer men raw dog us.

I hope we don’t settle before arb. Sammy doesn’t have a great case when his Washington season and the recent playoffs are factored in.

I hope they factor in goalies are basically a revolving carousel now. 3.75m and I’m happy.

So, does it sctually need go to the hearing to open the buyout window or just having filed for it would be enough?

Because if it’s the second, I wonder if this was planned with Sammy in on it as well…

Seems like the Leafs can’t walk away unless > than yearly designated amount

    Not that we would anyway

    > The arbitrator can only award a 1 or 2 year contract. The party that did not elect the arbitration selects the term (if the player selected arbitration, the team selects 1 or 2 year term). Players that are only 1 year away from being a UFA can only have a 1 year contract awarded.

    > New in 2020 MOU: Agreements can be reached between the teams and players only prior to the arbitration hearing commencing. Previously, an agreement could be made prior to award being delivered.

    > For Player elected arbitration, the Team can walk away if the award is $4,538,958M or more in 2020. If they walk away, the player becomes a UFA.

This opens up the second buyout period, which is more important than arbitration.

Sammy likely won’t make it to the meeting, he’ll be signed before then.

Iā€™m fairly certain he and the team agreed that heā€™d do this just do we get a second buyout window for Murray. Sammy will be signed long before his arbitration date.

1-2 year deal should be fine until Woll is ready to be the full time guy

  12. 0905throwaway

I canā€™t believe there are some fans that want him out

  13. HEY-REVEEN

Good for him, never trust a team to do right by you (especially one with cap troubles like us)

  14. Dubsified

2-years max. I really think Woll is that guy.
