  1. I don’t think Tsitsipas is content with his “pecking order”. I think he’s in a mental slump, having failed at two Major finals (one where he was playing beautifully for 2 sets), and realizing that he can’t find a way to beat Alcaraz and Co. Technically he needs help with his backhand, which his current team isn’t able to help him on. He needs a proper coach.

  2. Yeah, the wrist issues just seem terrible for tennis. Delpo, Thiem…hips are also career changing. I no longer snowboard to protect my wrists.

  3. I love the take on Kyrgios. He brought a level of drama and excitement that few on tour can bring. He played a ton of exciting matches, beat some top players, instigated mid-match beefs and arguments, and most importantly, he was winning. In fact, he had a top 5 win percentage on tour. Anyone who says they don’t miss him is lying to themselves. All of you right now would sprint to your TVs if Kyrgios was having a rematch with Tsitsipas, whether to root for him or against him.

Also no one should be wishing injuries on him. The guy has gone through a lot. His mother was held at gunpoint and robbed just a month ago, which was the main reason he didn’t play RG. He can’t even focus on tennis and has a lot of mental health issues right now, after 2022 where he felt better than ever. And then the physical health issues just keep piling on.

  4. Thoughts on Jannik Sinner and Matteo Arnaldi? because their playstyles are very similar if anything it seems Matteo is even more attacking-minded than Sinner What do you suppose?

  5. Hiya Gil, been following your podcast for awhile and it’s great. Thank you. You mentioned in this video that the cincy masters will likely be heading to charlotte and this has me pissed. The Cincinnati tournament is the premiere hardcourt warmup before the US Open. It’s been around since 1899, the oldest US tournament held in the city of its origin, and it’s been won by many of the greats from Bill Tilden to Rod Laver to John McEnroe to Novac Djokovic. So where is the outrage over Beemok Capital’s takeover and threatened move of the Cincinnati open to Charlotte? It’s a successful tournament, profitable and loved by the community. And it’s going to be gone because a gazillionaire thinks it would be a fun project for his community. Where’s the outrage? Do you have any insight into how the ATP feels about this move? Is it a given that the ATP will designate charlotte as a 1000 level venue? And lastly, if the move does happen is there any chance Cincinnati could still have a tournament albeit at the 500 or 250 level? I mean they have the infrastructure to make it happen. Thanks for all your tennis insights! Justin L

  6. Gill, usually you are my weapon. I got killed in my Wimbledon pool this time. I drafted RBA, Sonego, Greikspoor🤣. I’m done and the first round isn’t even over! What happened man??😁

  7. Murray vs tsitsipas? I think murray will eventually lose. Not because tsitsipas is better but because murray will be gassed.

  8. Andreescu took advantage of a nervous Serena in that final. She needs to lose 25 lbs and get in shape

  9. Big disagreement on Djokovic having been more clutch than Nadal. This only happened after Nadal's physicality went down after 2014. Up until then, they were toe to toe, with Nadal having the slight upper hand.

People often confuse playing defensive and physical with being clutch. The main reason Novak has been more clutch in recent years is his physicality and ability to play defense in clutch moments, something Rafa can't do any more…because unlike Djokovic, he has a genetic foot condition (Djokovic doesn't have any physical impairment).

I didn't expect a reputed analyst like yourself to fall into the gibberish of "diet, stretching, not showing pain in the locker room" that is often pushed by Novak fans. Every top 5 player is already paying EXTREME attention to every detail of their health, not just Djokovic. He doesn't do any of the important stuff any different, but his baseline genetics are just overwhelmingly superior, it's not about "going vegan and aligning chakras".

  10. So you're telling me Bublik got lucky DESPITE the Halle curse? Well, I did think and say that I thought he may have the black magic necessary to break the curse.

But regarding McDonald, one big thing comes to mind (aside from purely the wind, and related to that issue). In the last tournament he was in, he played the SF against F Cerundolo. He won the first set 6-2 and was up 4-2 (TWO breaks of serve) in the second. It got really windy (and eventually rainy) and he totally lost it. Both he and Cerundolo were struggling because it was so windy, but Mackie clearly lost it more, because he lost the 2nd set 5-7 and the 3rd set 2-6. Again, the wind was a huge factor. But I also have to think this horrible loss after being up so much was weighing on his mind, and more so as the wind presented a problem again.

  11. Make Cincinnati a grass court masters/or replace it with one and move it to before wimbledon and move wimbledon to late July?

  12. I would chop Miami or move it to before the US Open and chop Cincinnati. I would keep all three clay Masters because there has to be at least a third of masters events on clay since in so many countries clay is the main surface.

  13. Can you make a comparison of the top 5 of the last 5 years with respect of how early they prefer to hit the ball?

  14. I kept hearing Paul Badosa and then you mispelled it too on your description…I was like yeah Tsisipas is gay

  15. I think for Coco and FAA, the problems are very similar. They are too good of a student. Always well behaved, always nice, always polite and etc., and this being Mr./Ms. Perfect helped both of them to be really successful as juniors, because the biggest problem for juniors is some of the most talented players are just very naughty and not easy to handle, whilst good students like Coco and FAA are always doing the right things. But when they are into the adults world, it is a different story, being nice is like having no weakness, but you also have to be special to win the big titles. My suggestions are fire the parents, taking time set up their team. Will cost some time, will be risky, but I believe this is sth they have to do before they can have the real glory.
